PLease he throws one shot then clinches the same way Ruiz does in fact Ruiz throws more shots than Ricky does before he clinches sometimes Ruiz will throw a double jab.
i'm not even a true hatton fan, but you're overreacting. it's just the way things go, and to assume castillo quit because he would have gotten disqualified anyway is very far-fetched. arguably he went down because he saw no perspective anyway, because hatton was in domination, but this is a whole different story. also, do you want to call pbf/dlh a robbery or what? in both fights, pbf/dlh and hatton/jlc, the better man won. what's your problem? because they don't apply to you stylewise? how do you connect that to pro-wrestling? luckily i haven't watched jt/spinks, so maybe you're right in that case. but the rest is pure nonsense. we have seen a lot of good fights this year and there was not a single disappointment, except for maybe this jlc/hatton-fight, so why are you pessimistic?
sorry if i wanted to watch wrestling id watch Stone Cold instead of Ricky Hatton. Tell me this though when is Hatton going to at least get warned in the ring for hitting low and clinching to much. Is it just me or was it another Clinch then Punch on the break sort of fight or was it just my eyes playing tricks again. Like ive said about both PBF and Hatton' styles the greats like Louis,Marciano and Robinson must be rolling over in the graves and thinking is this what our sport has become. i recall James Braddock getting his boxing license revoked because of the same sort of fighting style as Ricky Hatton yet his fans think he is awesome. Im seriously considering becoming a MMA fan now because even though they wrestle at least there not affraid to let there hands go in the ring. im fed up this is nearly the last straw Pacman is the only man worthy of my PPV money now and any other Aussie.
I can't stand when he uses it defensively (Urango) or physically prevents the other guy from throwing, but mostly I think he uses it to set up offense. Overall, though, I don't like it. If he did it occasionally, fine, but it kills the athleticism of the contest to allow constant wrestling like that.
Every Hatton fight I've seen aside from Urango and Collazo has been entertaining. Even the first half of Urango and moments of Collazo were decent. Hatton's fights can get ugly at times but even with the mauling he throws and lands a lot of punches, when he's on his game he is fun to watch because he systematically grinds his opponent into submission and he inflicts a lot of damage in most cases. The only fight where he held excessively really was the second half of the Urango fight that he was clearly not in the best condition and apparently was sick, he still won easily. Against Collazo and Castillo, his opponents were holding just as much as he was, and unlike say Ruiz, Hatton continues to punch and fight even when they are tied up on the inside
Hatton made a hall of famer/top 5 P4P, long reigning, undisputed champ's corner throw in the towel. He KO'd a rugged, proven champion in 4 rounds who had never been down before on a perfect body shot. Ruiz never did anything comparable. Ruiz's punches don't inflict damage like Hatton's do. And Hatton throws a lot more punches than Ruiz, last night he threw well over 200 punches in under 4 rounds of action, Ruiz is lucky to throw that many punches through 8 or 9 rounds
Ruiz fought Defensively and held so as not to be hit. Hatton fights to maul you and clinches offensively so he can work your body and wear you down. Thats why.
:nut Aside from the Tua fight, care to point out an Ruiz fight as entertaining as Hatton-Tszyu, Hatton-Phillips, Hatton-Tackie, Hatton-Stewart, Hatton-Castillo, etc
Then explain Ruiz knocking out Oquendo, Putting Evander on ***** street, nearly knocking out a in shape younger version of Kirk Johnson? The styles are the same the only difference here is HBO is trying to make a name for Hatton which is why he is getting a pass on their networks.
Really? Oquendo has a suspect chin and is a fringe conteder/journeyman at best and the stoppage was premature. Kirk Johnson was screwed over in that fight, and his chin is not especially good, Vitali destroyed him with ease. Holyfield's the one clean knockdown, it was a nice temple shot, too bad Ruiz got legitimately KO'd on a bodyshot that was ruled a low blow prior to that If you're honestly comparing a premature stoppage and a DQ win against pair of gatekeeper/fringe contenders to making a hall of famer's team throw in the towel and legitimately KOing a tough as nails, proven champion who had never even been knocked down before, I don't really know what to say. Oquendo and Johnson are so far below the comparable level of Tszyu and Castillo that it's not really a comparison
Are you serious??? Nah definitely not. :-( People always knows what's going to happen everytime he fights . . . he'll throw 1-2-3 punches while coming in and then hold and clip the arm of his opponent. That's just about it on his fighting style.
You are talking to the biggest Holyfield fan there could be and let me tell you Ruiz won that second fight, you cant really say that it was the body shot that dropped him, there was a double left hook one hit the body the other was low, I am calling it the way it was simple as that he beat Evander fair and square. Oquendo has a suspect chin? Journeyman okay but many felt he beat Byrd, on with Kirk Johnson of course Vitali was going to get rid of him quick Kirk wasnt in shape for that fight and this was years after Ruiz beat him, and no it was not a pre mature stoppage Johnson was clearly hitting low, and was dropped by Ruiz twice from what I recall , beleive i still have these fights on tape so its not like I dont watch them ever because I do. and the Castillo that fought Hatton last night is not the same guy we all know, proof is in what you saw, your going to tell me that a man who went 10 of the hardest rounds ever in the sport just got caught with one good shot? the point is that fight with Corrales took something out of him and the proof is in the fights he has had since, Castillo hasnt looked the same. Now on to Rickys holding, was it too much holding? I mean when the ref clearly warns you in the first round to me that is a indicator that he is holding too much.
