Maidana beat Kotelnk in a competitive fight but they gave it to Kotelnik. (Kotelnik even thinks so) Molina fight was boring, it was also a farce, Devon fight was dull i thought, no drama, Pauline, Kotelnik and Collazo fights to one sided.
Kotelnik is a modest man, he would say that, Maidana poured on the workrate (Kotelniks biggest weakness) but Kotelniks clinical technique won it for me
I scored it 7-5, very underrated fight actually, no robbery but i preferred Maidana's work, khan got lucky Koelnik kept his title, they wouldn't have gone to 140 to fight Maidana in early 2009, you wouldn't think so anyway. Styles make fights, kotelnik was easy work for Khan, but you are right, he was a really good fighter, underrated for sure.
Molina was a comeback againt a nobody with a good record, it's actually to Khans credit how well Molina has come back from the beating Khan handed him Collazo, he was dangerous Paulie was the "Master Boxer" just coming off his win over Baby Bull Diaz Kotelnik was a great champion with a great pedigree
I admit again, I thought Kotelnik stylewas was wrong for Khan( wrong for him) because of his pure boxing style and patient workrate, but when I heard Khan was finally fighting Maidana, I thought "That's it, he's gonna get brutally battered" I missed the fight because I was busy, but checked the next day to see not only did Khan win, but he almost stoped Maidana in the first round. I was quite angry that he made such a fool out of me again, but I had to respect him at that point
What has Molina done since then, he is still a nobody. I was just listing Khan fights i found dull, not exciting, not saying they were terrible wins, but they aren't great either.
He almost stopped Molina in the first round (sliced up his face badly anyway), since then he has went on to take Broner the distance without being barely wobbled, and a contentious draw with Mercito Gesta
I also thought Maidana was gonna KO him, both came close to winning by stoppage, i actually scored that fight 6-6 in rounds (3,6,7,10,11,12 for Maidana) both having a 10-8 round but Maidana also had a point taken off so i had it 113-112 Khan. It was full of drama, plenty of action and a classic fight, absolute crime that there wasn't a rematch, almost 5 years later and still not happened. Maybe at 147 in the next year or 3, doubt it but maybe.
When I finally watched it I had Khan too And I had to eat a lot of crow saying if Maidana caught Khan with some clean ones he would be pasted on the canvas
He was in amazing shape that night, Ariza doen wonders for him, especially leg work, God was on his side that night, he just wouldn't go down ha, and i really wanted him to go down.
Generating interest and being exciting aren't the same thing IMO. Though your right, he does generate some interest, though not as much as he seems to think
I don't think so, he was made to miss by some pretty good defensive moves by McCloskey early, it's not like it was a clinchfest, Khan threw quick combos and McCloskey was dodging them but unable to unleash his own offense (people forget how good McCloskey was because of how quickly his career regressed) the finish was ugly, but the fight was fascinating McCloskey looked like Sweet Pea compared to Judah
