Do you really think Groves v DeGale II will be big enough to fill Wembley by 2016

You fail to address my point. Obviously it isn't pointless if it sells 80k again, but I'm questioning whether there are 80k people who would pay to go, given the vast majority who went last time won't bother due to the utter ****e experience from a sporting spectacle point of view.

 

I went last time and had mid level fairly pooey seats. I'd go again but i'm not sure I'd care enough about Groves v DeGale to bother

 

Groves played a massive part in building the Froch fight into a stadium event. If the trash talks starts between Groves and Degale and they both have world titles, I think it become a big event that would sell, but on the flip side, half the reason for the second Froch/Groves fight being so big was because how exciting the first fight was

Not a chance.

Froch only knocked out Groves in front of 80,000 people because a chain of events created a grudge match like never seen before.

It took a massive PPV fight first time which ended in one of the most controversial endings seen on a big stage to pave the way for a Wembley show down.

Buut Froch first played a role to dupe the people into thinking he would never take the rematch while Groves trashed talked away building something people thought they were not going to get.

When it was announced , the fascination of how it would go a second time captured the whole nations interests.
The first fight being an all out action war would have been enough on its own without every other factor that created the mammoth event it was.

Groves - dEgALE can't possibly come close to replicating the unique set of circumstances which made that fight what it was.

Froch grafted away in hard entertaining fights FOR YEARS to become a PPV star that lead him to Wembley.

Shows of that magnitude don't just come to guys over night.

 

Groves v DeGale II would be no bigger than Froch v Kessler II.

Having sold out O2 when they were both novices who most casuals knew nothing about I can see this getting close to or at Wembley stadium numbers. Now they're more well known to the general public, particularly Groves who seems to be a love or hate kind of man, so people would probably go hoping to see him lose again. Throw in that both of them would be world title holders, the Severe dislike between the pair in the build up and some classic Eddie Hearn conning and I wouldn't be that surprised if this filled Wembley. I prefer arena boxing but I couldn't make Froch Groves II so I'd probably be at this especially because I was in the minority who enjoyed their first fight.

 

Was Cleverley v Bellew not the main event of that card?

 

No. Cleverley was on the card, but it wasnt against Bellew. I think Cleverly was supposed to be fighting Brahmer but that didnt happen and Cleverly fought someone whos name escapes me at this time but will probably wake me in the middle of the night when I suddenly remember

 

They didn't sell out the o2.

Cleverly was headling against Brahamer. But ended up fighting Aleksy Kuziemski

Ah, yes that's right. Kuziemski it was. I'm getting confused with the two times Brahmer pulled out I think
