If Miranda keeps fighting B level fighters, he will probably keep scoring knockouts. But whenever he steps up in class to fight top level fighters (Abraham, Ward, Pavlik) he gets beat, sometimes badly (see Abraham II and Pavlik). He's just not well-rounded enough and relies on his big power punches too much. A decent boxer who can slip and move away from punches is hard for Miranda to deal with. But if he keeps making fights with guys who will try to slug it out with him, he can put those power shots to good use. You do have to give him credit though.... All of his losses are to guys who had never lost (Pavlik lost to Hopkins later).
The true test will be against another slick fighter with the capacity to frustrate him again. I hope he keeps improving.
I'd love to see Miranda improve, but in the Sierra fight he just did what he always does against guys off the "C List." He would have served himself better by putting in rounds.
Showtime has to be stuck on stupid to consider Green as 1st alternate. Look at the man's historyatsch
I will be shocked if they just allow Green walk into this tournament. He hasnt beaten anyone and lost to Miranda. At the very least they need to have these two fight for the right to enter.
Really? I know Miranda is your boy but you can't be naive enough to be "shocked" if Showtime decided to let Green in without having to fight anyone. He's Dibella's boy and it was planned all along that Green was to be the one to step him if someones quits the tournament.
no and i still remember the ridiculous hype he had a few years earlier, remember when Hopkins said he was passing his middleweight torch to Miranda lol
so what? he was an explosive undefeated unkown, then when he lost to AA he still broke his jaw and made it a competetive fight, nothing wrong with giving exciting young prospects hype... just because they dont live up to it, its not the end of the world.
Showtime can do anything they want. They have no contract with Allen Green. Yes, he is Dibella's boy so it makes sense for that reason, but that reason only. At the end of the day this is Showtime's gig, not Dibella's. So they need to do what is best for their rating and for the fans. I am with everyone else and thinks that the winner of Bute/Andrade should be the replacement. But from what I hear that is not possible. Bika is also not a possibility for other reasons. So who does that leave? At that point I think Miranda/Green would be a great rematch and winner gets in. Why not? Exactly. Pantera was a 3-1 favorite going into the Pavlik fight. Who knows, with Joe Goossen in his corner maybe the hype would be warranted. Either way he is an exciting fighter who (minus the Ward fight) always puts on a great show.
Miranda blew AA's jaw up, completely dislocated it, terrible swelling. He made AA go life and death and has been his hardest opponent thus far.
