At this point, I'm not that condident anymore that the fight is gonna be made.

Team Pac has finally regained their heads and is showing defiance to Arum. :deal

I can't imagine what you do if PAC fights Mosley at 147 ?? ;) It's very remote but it could happen...;) PAC fought Hoya at 147...;)

I guess this is a done deal already. They're just putting a publicity stunt same as Hatton and Dela Hoya fight. Cotto should put the title on the line. What is he gonna do with the belt if ever he losses anyway. Besides, WBO should have the say if the belt is on the line.

You got a point there... There's no pride defending a belt after a loss in your last fight... to a smaller opponent... You'll just become a loser champ...

People have to realize if the negotiations with Cotto are not as easy as Bob Arum thought, who is under Top Rank and soft spoken, until recently "two thumbs up for Cotto, for speaking up". What makes anyone feel negotiations with Mayweather are going to be easier. People say Manny doesnt need the Cotto fight, but Cotto does. It is totally false, Cotto has as many options or perhaps even more than Manny on fighting other opponents. He has potential rematches with Clottey, Mosley, Margarito. Has bad blood against Cintron. So he has opponents line up for him that could still do well money wise and easily sign to fight. Manny on the other side is not going to stay at 140 and fight opponents like Campbell, Diaz, Witter, Bradley, etc and risk any losing at this moment for big paydays such as with Cotto, Mayweather, and even Mosley. The problem is the negotiations would be tough to sign a deal with any of them. At the end of the day Manny needs this fight more than Cotto.

It seems that this problem is already solved... PAC-Cotto fight will push through at 145 lbs. with a title at stake...

I dunno if Cotto just agreed to put his title on the line or Arum did all the tricks...;)

where have you been when you stopped posting? or maybe you're just in the lounge because i seldom visit there anymore. a little busy that i just stay here in the general boxing forum but ok. what's your take on cotto-pac? they are my 1-2 guys so it would be hard for me to be happy if either one wins. i hope nobody gets destroyed after the fight.

Long story, I was pretty busy for 2-3 months (mainly work, but also the elections and some family issues), but things are better now.

I am a Cotto fan, so obviously I want him to win. I think it is a winnable fight for both guys, I don't pay attention to the people who get carried away by Pac's momentum and think he will destroy Cotto, or anybody else that gets in his way.

I actually have a feeling that Cotto will win it, but he has to catch Pacquiao big at least once in order to do it. If Pac manages to stay outside all night (jumping in for a while to flurry and then back out without getting caught with anything big), he will definitely win.

The bad thing is, a loss will be pretty damaging for both fighters and I don't necessarily mean physically. If Cotto loses, then it's possible that he will even stop fighting, imo. It will damage his marketability, and many will say things like "he's finished, he won't get any good fights from now on", which will be somewhat true. But the way he loses will play a big role of course (if he gets stopped, then it's all of the above and worse - if he loses a close decision, it might even give him a chance for a rematch).

If Pac loses, the "myth" he's built in the last few years will get shattered. No p4p #1 anymore, no "I'm the biggest draw, so I can call all the shots" anymore, and so on. His aura of invincibility will be lost, and since I actually like Pac (not a fan though), I won't like that, since I always find the "aura of invincibility" thing intriguing (except if it cocnerns a fighter I really don't like).

    Hope I didn't tire ya. :D

Manny has more to lose because a PBF vs Manny fight seems to get every other poster here in a lather and you figute the fare weather fan the one who doesnt know **** but knows who Tyson and DLH are. They can make the association with Pac and PBF via the DLH encounters. PBF is not a physically grueling fight for Pac you figure Floyd will be countering running and making a tap fest out of it. Cotto on the other hand will be launching and trying to KTFO out of Pac, he is bigger and stronger and young and prime.

Pac has a real chance of getting KTFO here they are not stupid and are not in any hurry here, however should PBF beat Marquez he will make it a ***** in negotiations! however should Manny conquer Cotto lets say KO then he regardless of what PBF does vs Marquez holds all the cards.

Pac waits for PBF the easier and more lucrative ( yet boring fight) gets paid then retires no need to take a real risk blowing it with Cotto, Cotto can be there after Mayweather if Manny wants it or Mosely.

I always thought this fight wouldnt come through I have my doubts.
