So one fight? That's so comparable to ward who has had hometown refs his entire career that let him foul as much as he liked
Ireland. I dont have a boy in this argument, you are american and will obviously excuses blatant cheating and corruption when jt suits you
That doesnt make any sense, i would be just as bitter about every country then russia and kovalev included. Ward is a dirty fighter 9/10 fans believe this seriously hurt his legacy and numerous people agree he is basically a dirtier version of sven ottke.
Yall crazy..lol I guess refs and judges are pretty cheap and easy to buy now..lol This is a thread about how unpopular he is and how much of a cheat he is, but he's still able to buy off people? You'd think if Canelo and Floyd buys them, they would want more for the risk than what Ward can offer..lol
what planet are you on? Ireland per population are possibly better than any country in pro boxing right now. Belfast alone has a population of just 280,000 - and just that small city alone has Ryan Burnett, Carl Frampton, soon to be world champion Paddy Barnes, Michael Conlan and loads of other top prospects. you know nothing about boxing if you don't respect 'the fighting irish' & No doubt being half Irish played a big part in your boy Andre Wards success.
I think we all know why, there is so much hate for Ward on here. I can see if he had a bunch of close calls during his career but he dominated 95% of his 'opponents not to mention having one of the best resumes in boxing at the time he was competing. THEN he went up another weight division to battle a MONSTER, that most people said he wouldn't fight. Now I will admit that the first fight with kovalev was close, and I won't disagree if people say he lost that fight.....BUT in the rematch he CLEARLY took the heart of Kovalev. The punches that some considered low blows were actually on the belt line with the exception of the last one which I couldn't see. But what people don't
want to admit is kovalev was actually hurt even more by a head shot not long before this "low blow". It was very evident that he dogged kovi and totally out willed him.
EXACTLY, I don't understand all the Hate this man gets. He carries himself like a gentleman, is an up standing man of GOD and has fought the absolute best and has Dominated in all of his fights with the exception of the first Kovalev fight. He fights a rough inside fight at times and with a style like that, its naturally going to make for a more physical close encounters fight, period. Its not like he had many close fights, its actually the opposite. He has dominated some of the best fighters in his division.
Big difference being is he didn't wait until his two biggest wins on his record were old and past their primes, as Calazage did. Regardless if he fought them in his home country or theirs, Ward dominated them when he fought them. AND the lone close fight that he had with kovalev he gave him a rematch that you guys said he wouldn't do and totally took his heart. Say what you want about the "low blows" in which most were "on" the belt line. He hurt him significantly with a "head shot" not long before end of the fight. it was clear kovalev was on his way out in another couple rounds. Please watch the fight again without all the obvious "BIAS"
I'm not so sure Ward was more popular that Spence at the same time during their careers. I will say Spence by the time he hits his 30's he'll be far more popular than ward ever was. Also, worldwide Spence has blown by ward in popularity the minutes he stopped brook, who IMHO is far better than anyone Ward was able to fight.. That isn't a negative towards Ward once we consider the fact brook was a truly elite talent.. And fyi: before trolls claim nonsense brook is indeed elite, that cannot be argued. The only elite talent ward ever fought was Kessler, and we don't have to get in to the head butting and wrestling because Kessler was indeed past his peak still great win but not like calz win over kessler
