nor did kovalev or hopkins, they both took on their best opposition in their primes, neither waited for them to age - it does sound like you mean that? sorry if i misunderstood.

He’s referring to Ward’s former promoter Dan Goosen. It was Dan Goosen who promoted Ward into the success he became. 2 of his 3 Super 6 bouts were in Andres hometown of Oakland (the 3rd with Froch was in Jersey) as well as the bouts that weren’t part of the tournament. He got the Dawson fight at 168 instead of 175 or a catchweight. Yet in spite of all of this, Ward sued him for not living up to his contract. By this time Ward had become one of the best known boxers in the world but had already developed the reputation that he’s known for now - dirty, diva, won’t travel etc. While Ward was respected as a tough, talented champ he absolutely came across as an ungrateful, charismaless guy. To blame Goosen, who was always considered one of the good guy promoters, appeared to be the height of thanklessness. Ward lost the first lawsuit and immediately sued again using a different tact. Ward lost that suit as well. He sued either 2, or possibly 3 times-I forget, and lost each time. All the while he stopped fighting, thereby losing a lot of momentum and goodwill that he had previously developed. Ward then was able to get his contract bought by jayz and his new roc nations promotional company. It was right around this time that Goosen died from liver cancer. The fact that Andre claims to be a Christian but is managed by the thug James prince and was bought out by jayz and sued Goosen multiple times says just as much about his character as the headbutts, elbows, low lows etc does.

Great boxer, managing to never a lose a fight since childhood. If he was weaker it would have been easy to lure him into a losing situation, but he always insisted everything is set for him to win & win only at any cost...

Nobody knows the entire details of the lawsuit as Goosen refused to disclose any information and Ward wasn't too inclined to go into it either.

But Ward certainly didn't file lawsuits because Goosen got him the Dawson fight at 168 as well as 2 Super 6 fights in his home town as you pathetically tired to imply.
    1. It was Dawson himself that offered Ward the fight at 168. Ward merely obliged him.
    2. It was the heads at Showtime that wanted Ward to have fights at home since they signed him and wanted him in front of a home audience to build his name and profile up.

What little is known about the lawsuits relates to Goosen withholding financial information-

....and trying to undercut co-promoter Antino Leonard.

Ward had the opportunity to fight during this dispute but declined out of loyalty to Leonard who wasn't seeing a return on his investment.
So you think about that , he sat on the bench without paydays for 3 years to fight for what he believed was the right cause.

You don't have a donkeys notion about any of this and are waxing lyrical about morals and higher values while using a dead mans name to push your hate for a man you know nothing about.

Dont coming back with another "relax son" post of trash. Ive have no interest in anything you got to say. Twat.

No real Boxing fans has any respect for Andre Ward at all. Even the professionals rarely have a good word to say about him. Only his mate Paul Smith - who he personally paid extra money to, for failing to meet weight, when he was morbidly out of shape even though he was born out of shape - has only good words to say about him.

Relax, darlin’ - you’ll make it through this. Daddy won’t let the bad man on the inter webs hurt your feelz.
My post was to simply answer Birmingham’s question to gmurphy about having a dead man’s blood on his (Ward’s) hands. I answered Mendoza, filling him on the basic timeline of what went on and the sentiment of many fans. I wasn’t waxing lyrical - although I’m flattered that you perceived it as such. Maybe that’s due to you and I having a soft spot for Rick Astley
    :encama:
As for the details and legitimacy of wards multiple lawsuits against Goosen, including using the Muhammad Ali Act, neither you nor I have all of the information. What we do have that is concrete is that andre lost every time in court.
With regard to his 168lb fight with Dawson, yes, Chad did agree to fight Ward at 168. However, when the fight was being discussed he said he would rather fight at 175 or a catchweight. Given the fact that both men were the Ring champs in their respective divisions a catchweight of 171.5lbs would’ve been the desirable and equitable thing to do. It would’ve meant that chads title was on the line and Andre could’ve bathed himself in glory by being both the 168 and 175 champ simultaneously. Instead, Ward insisted that Dawson fight at 168 and in Oakland.
Listen son, and I say this with compassion, in this life you have to take the bitter with the sweet. Yes, Ward gets credit for dominating and stopping Chad; however, he loses some of his shine because Chad was obviously weight drained. Ward has never been seen as a big puncher and Chad, at that time, was not know for a weak chin. That fact Ward stopped Dawson points more to Chad being weakened than anything else.
Sometimes a fighter comes along who seems to have it all but for various reasons doesn’t resonate with the majority of fans. Olympic gold medal, father / son like relationship with his trainer, gentlemanly demeanor, dominant in the ring with very few ducks...a bit like Vlad Klitschko. Andre is a skilled, mentally tough boxer who always found a way to win and he’s a legit HOFer. He also happened to possess a very unappealing fighting style coupled with a lack of charisma and some questionable business ethics.
    You’re welcome. Twat.
