Does anybody else think floyds relatively low workrate will be a problem against pac?

Have we ever seen Floyd have to fight a guy with the intensity of Pac. Hatton was close but not on the same skill level. We know Floyd can lose rounds and get hit, it's happened in his last two fights before retirement. I think Pac is gonna be a more difficult target than expected. Will Floyd shell up and wait for Pac to slow down?

Nah......That may work for a guy who isn't throwing between 80 and 100 punches a round, but PAC and Paul williams do. You're right that the more he throws the more opportunities that open up. But you can't go into a defensive shell and avoid a 7, 8, 9, 10 or 11 punch combo and think you won't get hit once. Floyd can counter guys who are not his equal in terms of speed. PAC is going to cause Floyd problems without a doubt. PAC is harder to hit than Oscar and his work rate is higher. He'll make it a closer fight than the fight Floyd had with DLH and more brutal.

Agreed.. If the fight is close I don't see how Floyd would get the decision. Also with him playing it safe and possibly being too defensive for Pac, won't pay off. I expect a controversial decision like Hagler/Leonard hopefully resulting in a rematch.

You Pac fans have it wrong the key is not what Pac will do to PBF he's the more versatile fighter has proven it and can adjust but the key is what PBF will do to Pac and how will he offset it and adjust. That's what people should focus on. PBF has more experience at fighting different styles and has shown the ability to adjust like beating guys at there own game in Hatton, walking down a guy and breaking him down in Judah, an offensive whirlwind in beating Gatti or sticking and moving against Baldo and Chico. Pac has more unanswered questions than PBF does.:deal

PAC is going to get hit...he is the kind of fighter who takes chances and although it's not easy to hit him...his style allows for openings to happen and floyd will capitolize. The thing about Floyd is he doesn't hit nearly as hard as some of the other foes who PAC beat up.

Actually I don't believe that to be the case. PAC has ANSWERED many questions...ones that Floyd have still yet to be answered. How does Floyd fare against an equally talented foe that matches his own talent and althletic ability. DLH was one......and he had a very close competitive fight with Oscar. How does floyd comeback from being knocked down or how does he react when he's in a real fight. We already know he's great at adapting and making adjustments mid fight....but those fighters he faced are not as talented or gifted as PAC.

For those of you that don't understand thIS sport of Boxing, and who's just picking anybody over PBf based off emotion. PAY CLOSE ATTENTION!!!! Bell rings for round one: Pacman comes out aggressively trying to bring it to "money" because he knows thats what the fans want to see,he'll throw a couple of jabs to test the waters and to see what he could possibly hit money with. Mayweather will gracefully dance to his left, pacman's right to set up his angles on Pac. As soon as money stops moving he's going to pop Pac with his lethal straight right hand, followed by a hook to the body, then he'll dance around him. Pac will try again to get aggressive and try to manhandle money while trying to tie him up, money when they break up from the clench, will hit Pac with a straight right to the body followed by a left hook to his head. PAY CLOSE ATTENTION TO MONEY'S RIGHT FOOT!! Because evrytime he's about to suckerpunch Pac with a straight right hand to the body or head, he's going th prop up on the ball of his right foot, at hit Pac straight down the the pike! Ding! Ding! Ding! bell sounds to end the round......

See, I think that's the worst way for Floyd to come into a fight. Expecting Pac to be unhinged by a standstill. Pac in his last four fights have fought in 4 different ways. He moved and boxed Oscar, Moved and countered Diaz, set traps for Hatton, went toe to toe with Cotto. I think you are severely underestimating that Pac will be Floyds best all around FIGHTER Floyd will have ever faced. He will throw shots from angles that Floyd will find very hard to move from if he can't see them. This is no longer a weight drained 130lb Pacman.

I disagree. PBF has fought guys that have been just as athletic as him and just as fast. Guys like Zab are a perfect example of this. Pac on the other hand hasn't he's always been the faster fighter in the ring and the better athlete as well. Against PBF he won't have that luxury he'll be in with a guy who's just as fast arguably a better athlete and a better boxer as well. Also Pac has never faced a slick defensive counter-puncher before and fighting one is already difficult enough but making PBF the first one you face is a recipe for disaster. You add the fact that PBF is a stylistic nightmare for Pac and you see that he has a lot more unanswered questions.

Pacquaio answered all his remaining questions with Cotto. He answered them so well that PBF surely took notice and will adjust. If Pac had not fought Cotto PBF might have been under some delusion he could stand with Pac and counter his way to victory by hurting Pac and being the bigger man.

PBF now knows that he's got to fight as the little man in the fight. He will occasionally jab but not too often because Pac brutalized Cotto with counter right hooks and Cotto had a nice jab equal or better than PBF. He'll rarely throw a straight right but mostly look to counter and will clinch after every single power punch or short combination. I don't think PBF will run much because it will allow Pac to use work rate to win rounds and get punches past his defense due to the weird angles.

In summary I think PBF will clinch Pac as his primary tactic to slow down Pac's work rate. It also serves as the best defense from Pac's weird angles on combinations by simply not allowing Pac to even attempt the punches.

I never questioned Floyd not facing guys who were as fast or talented....he jsut hasn't faced anyone like PAC and vise versa. PAC hasn't seen the kind of boxer in Floyd. Floyd is a better boxer...however...he's not a better fighter than PAC. Both PAC and Floyd are great athletes with incredible ability. It's a boxer vs a fighter....both are talented and great respectively. This will come down to who's "WILL" is stronger in my opinion. But Floyd won't be able to outbox PAC for 3 min of every round.....jsut like PAC won't be able to force Floyd into a toe to toe battle for 3 mins of every round.

The slickness of Floyd will be a problem for Manny, but Floyd's "D" won't hold up when he's facing multiple punch combos consistantly, coming form all kinds of angles. I do agreee Floyd's style is a nightmare for PAC or anyone for that matter.....PAC it's also true PAC's style is going to be the most difficutl style Floyd has ever faced and for that he has additional questions that can only be answered in the ring when the face off.

This is exactly what i hope for too. I hope that Pac's speed, skills and workrate force Mayweather to show his best OFFENSIVE stuff, rather than just his superb defense which most have seen just about enough of right about now. Because if that does happen, we might actually see a fight for the ages on the best possible occassion.

Unfortunately, like some posters on this thread have already pointed out, what also might happen is that rather than allowing Pacquiao to force him to crank up his own workrate, Floyd finds a way to make Pac fight at his pace, which might make for another Mayweather-De la Hoya scenario.

First things first though, lets hope this fight gets made to begin with.

That workrate is unique becausem it finds holes to connect. Infact. if you look at some of his crosses, the wrist sometimes is bent a little to connect even if the opponent is able to block it. It was noticed by Lederman, or merchant(not very sure who) during the Pac-Cotto fight. And even when ODLH had his two hands raised high, Pac still punched throught that guard.

The thing that will be a problem for Floyd will not be the work-rate alone, but the work-rate coupled with Manny's proclivity for creating unorthodox angles. IMHO, there are two things he can do to give Floyd problems:

1.) Jab the shoulder. I'm a boxer who uses the shoulder roll in my amateur fights. And I'm absolutely nothing compared to PBF, obviously, but even I feast on right hands thrown at my chin/head. If instead, Manny (and I'm sure Roach will instruct this) throws the jab at Floyd's lead shoulder this will pay dividends down the stretch. Primarily because that shoulder has been injured before, and secondly because every elite shot Floyd has comes from the left. If you make it more and more difficult to shoot out lead hooks and jabs, he is going to be in serious, serious trouble.

    2. Feint jab/lead hook -> straight right. If there is any power shot Floyd is susceptible to it is this. And because of the nature of his style there is little he can do prevent this save for hope his ungodly reflexes save him. Marquez hit him with this exact move in the early rounds of their fight and that dude is like cement drying compared to Manny.

The problem with the workrate thing and comparing Manny's to say ODH's, is that when these guys worked on him while he was on the ropes, they just stood there in front of him. It's not easy to block those shots, but it sure as **** is EASIER than if the guy is lazering a 5 hit combo, easing off, making a new angle, shooting off another 5, making a new angle, etc... Which is exactly what Pac does.

This is a tough fight for Floyd, for sure. Not saying he loses or anything, but definitely a tough fight for him.
