Does anyone else not have massive expectations for Groves?

The 5th was on the replay this morning.

It was his best round, he landed a few big shots and didn't get hit with many - though the stoppage was a bit iffy.

 

yeh after the 1st he was in complete control.

the left hand low is find if groves stays at distance. he has freakishly long arms which means he can land without being in his opponents shot range.

its wasnt a great performance, maybe Paul Smith had a look and they will fancy the job now.

 

Ironsense if you are to bring that up you might aswell mention it took dirrell 7 to get him out

 

in dirrel's 18th fight aswell

think people migh be under looking his opponent, im sure he's better than ur typical english journey men.

Different Dirrell I think.

It wasn't a bad performance, and he looked good from round 4 onwards. I certainly wouldn't be jumping off the bandwagon because of the fight.

 

i can see what you mean with the comparison. i still think groves is excellent but starting to think a boxer with great movement and defence would beat him i.e. dirrell - possible fight in a few years. and if degale can develop more, he's certainly gonna be a very hard fight

I think that for long term development of Degale he would be better having Jimmy Mc as part of his team for conditioning and fitness...:yep

I am not convinced Jimmy Mc is the man to have in his corner to take him to the summit of his mountain... I would like to see Degale with Jimmy Tibbs or Johnny Eames...:yep

To be honest i thought he did quite well when you consider it was his 10th fight and he was in against a tough mexican journeyman . He was caught a couple of times in the early rounds but that seemed to wake him up . After that he took control of the fight started putting together some decent combinations and jabs . I was suprised at the stoppage as the mexican didnt look in any trouble and groves wuld have been better off getting rounds against a decent opponent rather than a fake ko on his record . All in all a decent nights work for groves .and hopefully he can learn and improve from it .

 

I've never been quite as sold on him as certain other people although he does have decent talent

 

he's a good boxer, i always wondered how travis dickenson stopped him in the amateurs though, he beat groves twice, degale talks about koing him, is there behind the scenes nowledge, he,s talked of being floored in sparring, that will be with big gloves and a top pro headguard , hes fast, good jab, looks classy, im hoping his chin isent the ***** in his armour,as i really rate him, its just that lingering doubt about his durability, hope im wrong though.

 

Tighten up the defense and he'll be fine. Strange style though. He pressures but only let's his hands go to counterpunch. He does a have a similar stance to Haye but Haye is so versatile he doesn't really have a "style" so it's difficult to compare them.

 

he looked ok at least his fighting fighters from all over the world so he can learn i think he will go far

 

only just found out groves got shown on hbo because of sme technical difficulties with the live card

The guys 22 yrs old unbeaten in 10 fights and is still on a massive learning curve ... hes already fought in Germany and stateside as a pro and k'od Charles Adamu for the commonwealth title who went 12 rounds with our top super middle weight Carl Froch ...

When im watching the guy box there are so many positives to his performances and as long as Booth irons out the weaknesses then this kid for me still is the real deal ...

He was in against a decent performer with good opponenets on his CV on sunday morning and didnt look in too much danger ... it wasnt his best performance but at 22 and on the vegas undercard he overcame the nerves and won well... theres alot to like about this lad !
