In a way I do. I prefer the way he carries himself as a person compared to some others. I never liked his promoter. But that's like holding Don King's evils against Mike Tyson.

They thought so little of Ruiz, they did not care to research him. Did you pay attention to the lead up? The question wasn't how or if AJ was going to win, it was up to his mood in how soon he'd crush Ruiz. Those who actually watch fighters fight know Ruiz is highly skilled. But they didn't, cuz they thought they were cherry picking a FATASS, duh.

So.... fighting the best available opponent is a cherry pick... because... they were overconfident?

You realize they sent offers out to more respected fighters ya?

fighting the best available opponent in a replacement situation when more respected fighters turned down career high paydays. Thats simply called making the best of the situation.

    AJs arrogance is irrelevant.

I had the vaguest beginnings of sympathy, but then he acted all smug when Tyson Fury offered him genuine well-wishers, so nah; screw 'em. Besides, he has tens of millions of dollars, his physical health, and his mental faculties. He'll be fine.

Im arguing because its quite clearly not a cherry pick. You dont seem to actually know what a cherry pick is.

Fighting your second or third option because fighters higher on the list declined your offer, doesnt make the fight a cherry pick.

A cherry pick is when you sidestep better fights to take an easier fight.

    ....

Heres a simple question for you.

What available and willing fighter should AJ have fought instead of Ruiz?

I actually agreed on all of your points in this thread but I think most of the ones you mentioned here are wrong.

Who was AJ holding the belts hostage from? Joshua and DAZN had offered Wilder a 100 million offer to fight Joshua twice it's not Joshua's fault Wilder turned that deal down and didn't want it. The same thing with Luis Ortiz, Ortiz priced himself out of the Joshua fight and didn't really want it. Fury hasn't really talked about making the Joshua fight happen and it appears both guys wanted to fight Wilder, then (if they won) fight each other but no side has contacted each other to make a fight happen.

As for the ''cherry pick'' if Joshua had lost to any of the potential replacement opponents (Hunter, Ruiz or Ortiz) it seems you would of called that a cherry pick regardless of who he fought. It's not like Joshua was scrapping the bottom of the barrel trying to fight guys like Junior Fa WBO #7 or Fujimoto WBO #9.

I think its a bit stupid how lots of people on here are team wilder or team aj like a bunch of teen girls. I feel bad for him, he was gracious in defeat, he just got beat up by Kung-fu panda but its not the end of the world for him. there will be a rematch and he should go ok in that and even if he gets beat again who cares its sport ffs.

But its true. Not trying to be a dick and I dont mean it in that way. But you quite clearly don't know what a cherry pick is. You dont know what that term means. You seem to have your own definition of it. No worries.

    ...

Cherry Pick : Choosing to do the easiest task out of a group of tasks when given the chance.

    ...

Ruiz was not the easiest fight they could have made, and they also tried to get a more respected opponent. Those two things alone remove this from being a cherry pick.

You seem to think a cherry pick is when one guy is a massive favorite, while wanting to ignore the underlying contexts behind it.

No worries. Have a nice night.

You don't know wtf you are talking about. They chose Ruiz and did not do their homework. They saw a fatass and thought easy work. This is not unlike Fishnets picking Manny cuz he thought that would be easy work as well. These are both examples of cherry picks gone wrong. You and I realize Ruiz is not a cherry pick, but that is besides the point. They thought it was a cherry pick and paid the price for their hubris. You are arguing cuz you got jack **** to do but be a ****ing contrarian.

Ruiz needs to relieve the other belt holders of their trinkets now.

If he goes ahead and does that while gaining 50lb I will erect a statue to him in my backyard :D

Jesus Christ  The very fact you even try comparing this to Hoya vs Pac shows how utterly clueless you are.
