to put it simply he rather not get hit and lose on points rather than opening up which would of increase his chances of winning but also increase the chances if him get beat up bad (like cotto). Even cotto could of hopped into a shell and lose on points but he fought to win not survive.

It isn't fear, of course, otherwise he would'nt enter the ring... It has to be mental, like "second best syndrome" or something. He acted sometimes like a student in front of his master. I agree with the ones who think he showed way too much respect for pac, touching gloves and hug everytime...

And I admit that Top Rank being promoter of both fighters, the idea of Clottey holds off for Arum sakes crossed my mind... But it sounds so big that it is hard to believe...

Shades of MAB in his return match against Pacquaio.

He wasn't paid, but this is what happens when you don't watch fight film. You can't come up with an appropriate plan of action when you don't study an opponent. Clottey's biggest mistake was not hiring a better and more seasoned "big fight" trainer. When his style of fighting was neutralized by Pac's speed, he didn't know what else to do.

Like I said before the fight, Clottey is a very tough fighter, but doesn't deserve to fight on the "elite" level.

Was he paid off? No he got beat by a great fighter thats what happened
and was paid millions of dollars to fight and try to win but again pac is a master at what he does and and loves the sport more then clottey.

Didn't belive in himself, had no confidence in his ability to win the fight. Was basically in awe of Manny, and just wanted to go the distance.

Shame really. But at the end of the day, Josh just didn't have the skills to win, and he knew that.

That right there is a contradiction.

Because when you don't see opportunities you have to MAKE them.. something which takes both heart and courage.

    Something Clottey doesn't do.

Arum reached into his pockets to make sure Clottey had no intentions of going back to Africa with the belt. It wont be the first time he paid someone off

    perfect storm

    1. fighting another top rank guy , so against cotto and margo he could have won the fight with more work , just like last night

    2. problly had to much respect for pac

    3. pac throws so many punches , but its been said before now that clottey did have sucess when he threw , so either he was scared (doubt it) to much respect for what manny might do ( mybe ) or he knew he was there as an opponent not to win the fight

I knew Clottey wasn't going to win this fight when during one of his prefight interviews, he said he didn't want to be embarassed as bad as DLH ,Hatton ,Cotto. This is why he didnt really come out of his defensive shell. It's not really fear of the pacman its fear of losing real bad on a world stage, a pride issue if you will. Anyway I always enjoy watching pacman fight. Clottey should try his luck at 154 next and pacman needs to fight mosley next, you know one for the fight fans.

I don't see it any difference, he always fights like that. He always wait for his opponent to stop punching before he throws something himself.
