when I see Wlad (at least Wlad of the last five years), I think excellent and vastly underrated defense and balance, accompanied by a great powerful jab. Haye is going to be toast.
ocelot..........take a look at this film and tell me that's not Wlad....... And watch the film before you comment because Louis was one hell of a fighter, but Primo looked just as good, (in my opinion, better than Wlad), and look what happened to him REPEATEDLY... Yeah people at the time said he was slow and clumsy, but that's because he was, RELATIVE, to the other better fighters... You are out of your mind. Primo is no where NEAR as skilled as Wlad. He also wasn't even close to Wlad's speed (don't let the old film fool you). His defense, and footwork wasn't on Wlad's level... and he also would lead with his face most of the time. Carnera's jab is nothing like Wlad... he doesn't shoot his punches the same way.... exactly how are they alike other than being white, having dark hair, and a good build?:huh
I don't know that Wlad's amazing at all, but he is better than many give him credit for. I see the similarities in stance with Carnera, but there are very important differences: Carnera had nowhere near the jab that Wlad has, had nowhere near the power (Carnera was a huge HW at the time, but was not known as a big puncher, oddly enough), and he didn't have Wlad's footwork and balance. If you watch the film, when attacked, Carnera bends back at the waist. Wlad jumps back, keeping his balance, while remaining set to throw a counter.
Wlad has all the ability in the world, infact I expect him to beat Haye comfortably. But recently his fights have been nothing more than crappy jab filled boring pish.
I agree. I have no problem with Haye fans and rooting for your guy, but the totally off the wall threads that have been popping up are a joke. The disrespect for Wlad is hitting a new level. I dont understand why a fan cant pump up there fighter without totally trying to disrespect the other guy. Yes, but unlike other areas of life where you have to suffer ignorance, in boxing you just have to wait for the match. Once Wlad demolishes Haye and sends him into early retirement in Cyrprus, all of the Hayehuggers will disappear. Poof!

I disagree with what you said about his jab. I think Carnera's jab was just as good if not better than Wlads. He was able to tag Louis with it on occasion, while Wlad had serious trouble landing his jab on Ibriganov, who didn't appear to have serious trouble ducking Wlad's jab, despite his notorious speed. And bending at the waste is defense, jumping back is just using your size. But can you think of any explosive punchers who can nail wlad with a hook while he's retreating? Sam caught him, and Sam is a big fat slugger that uses no headmovement and can barely duck a punch. And regarding Primo's punch, he sure knocked out a lot of people for a guy that couldn't punch. In fact he knocked out 72 out of 89 people and didn't lose often, and most of the time only to the best. If you can remember, Wlad not only lost to some regular fighters, but got knocked out by them.
When in any recent fight has Wlad needed to throw 5-6 punch combos? He has yet to have anyone mount an effective offense against him in 4 years. You Haye fans are grasping at ****ing straws with this ****
