This is what Haye should have done in the first place. I think what many fans objected to was his jumping the cue, without having actually earned a shot.

David Haye only does what many other boxers do to hype a fight, look at Tyson or Bernard Hopkins. I really hope he beats Viitali, but i think he may have taken one step too far without a few fights to aclimatise to the HWs. Having been in Gelsenkirken for the Wlad vs Chagaev fight, i hope Haye wins so we dont have to put up with constant boring title fights, if nothing else he is a entertainer

The only issue I had was if it was about the cash (imo it was) he should have talked to Wlad about it to try and save the fight and he should have told the media he wasnt getting paid and not pull a bull**** move by FAKING a back injury

I thought that was a bad move as well (if true) because I assume Chagaev didn't bring much to the table in terms of his own purse.
Hayemaker also had a card coming up on tv on Setanta that has been cancelled as a result of Setanta going under, so if it was about money, there were more things to consider rather than just Hayes purse

Archie Moore challeneged Joey Maxim for the light heavyweight championship of the world for a purse of $800, while Maxim received $100,000. Archie knew that if he was given the opportunity he would win the title. Apparently, Haye doesn't feel the same way.

PS-There has been no proof that the ONLY money he was set to receive was the setanta money. If it was true that he was going to have to fight for free, he wouldn't have made up stories about being injured.

    OF COURSE I BLAME HAYE

He was supposed to knock Wlad out in like 3 rounds, and it was supposed to be his easiest fight, right? So even if he didn't get paid, he'd get to become the world hevyweight champion in a very easy fight. That seems worth it, right?

    ...right?

Oh sorry, I forgot that all of that was just pre-fight **** talking, and that Haye knows he wouldn't actually beat Wlad, let alone beat him easily.

How many times do you have to be told that the Setanta money was the only money he was recieving, its common knowledge :wall

have to agree to a point.

ricky didn't earn his shot at 147

pac didn't earn his shot at 140

****, duran didn't "earn" his shot at 160 but NO ONE would complain about that.

it's ok for the lower weights, but not heavy's?

however, haye literally JUST talked his way to the fight which annoyed people. if he had shut up and let the fight happen as they tend to people would probably be more forgiving

There's a big difference between moving up 5 lbs and moving up to a division where you'll be fighting guys who are 20-50 lbs heavier than what you're used to.

Pac did it like three times
    Taylor did it against Froch
    Calzaghe against Hopkins
    Jones against Ruiz

and those are just off the top of my head, there are plenty of things one could say about Haye but this "didnt earn his shot " crap is ****ing laughable it happens every ****in day in boxing !!!!!!
