I'd favor Lewis over Bowe, Bowe is the kind of opponent that would bring out the best in Lennox Lewis and cause him to be focused and ready. UD12

Bowe would have knocked him out. Lewis didn't mature as fast as Bowe.

That said, 1994 and on Lennox would probably have smacked the crap out of him.

Bowe did invite him to fight right there.

Yes it’s a very possibility that he might have. Remember, part of the reason why Lewis lost to McCall was because McCall had manny steward in his corner and they worked on exposing a very specific flaw prior to the fight. Bowe of course had Eddie Futch who was one of the all time best, but I don’t know if he defected that specific weakness in Lewis nor how to utilize it. With all the above said, it would have been a battle and either man could have taken at that time

I’m not even fully convinced a prime Lewis would beat 1992 Bowe.

Whilst I think Bowe had the best chance before Lewis got with Steward, Bowe ducked the fight and vacated his belt. Plus Lewis had already beaten Bowe in the Olympics and clearly had the mental edge.

Lewis beats Bowe at any point in their career

Absolutely. I would have bet on it. Bowe was always a bubble waiting to be burst.

I’ve never posted on here, but this dream matchup has intrigued me for three decades.

When I was 13, I watched the HBO replay of Bowe vs Holyfield 2. At the time I thought Bowe did enough to win. I became a huge Bowe fan, and always had high hopes for a Lewis fight (or any matchup against a top contender not named Holyfield). He was consistently disappointing with the exception of the Gonzalez battering. His very next fight he looked slow and sloppy against Holyfield, and I knew Bowe wasn’t the same fighter from just 3 years prior. But, I still had hopes for a Lewis match. As a 15 year old hooked on boxing magazines and HBO, I wanted so badly to see an announcement for that matchup.

I used to think 92 Bowe would beat 92 Lewis in convincing fashion. Now, in hindsight, I think Lewis stops him, maybe on his feet or his corner throws in the towel. Reason being, Bowe was just too easy to hit. I see it looking similar to Lewis vs Bruno or Tucker, with Bowe controlling the action with his jab and making Lewis look amateurish at times. But, at some point, Lewis will land that right hand. Bowe wouldn’t be able to eat Lewis’s punches the way he did against Holyfield. I must admit, Lewis looked awful in some pre-steward fights, but I still think he lands that right on Bowe more than once. I could be wrong, which is why this is a dream fight.

If this fight happened in 1996, Bowe is KOd in 2 rounds. (And I’m a Bowe fan).

What if Bowe had won the Holyfield rematch… would he have fought Moorer? Shoot, I would’ve even loved to see a fight with Morrison.

Could he have - sure. Would he have, who knows. There is evidence on both sides that make a compelling case for either man. Based off the Tucker and Bruno fights I could easily pick Bowe. Based off the fact of the 88 Olympics, and Newman kept Bowe away from punchers like the plague I could pick Lewis.
I would probably lean Bowe in the early 90s a more fluid and finished product. Lewis still looked rather clumsy in many fights. But I would not be shocked if Lewis won.

Every time I've watched that fight it looked like the referee stopped it way too early, Bowe was dancing around hands in the air. He took a couple of big shots but looked fine to me. He hurt Lewis more than once in the first round.
