Does Burnett stand a chance to Win the WBSS?

Find it difficult to see.

I see some were saying he made the wrong choice in picking Donaire but i actually think it was clever move he is a big name who recently fought in Belfast and has not been down at Bantamweight for 7 years it remains too be seen how well he can make the weight.

But the seeding has not been kind to him to have to go through Tete who is technically excellent, huge size for the weight and a 6" reach advantage, I just can't see how he can outbox him its fine doing it for someone like Haskin but Tete is a completed different ball game.

If he does pull it off though he gets rewarded with the monster, Burnett just doesn't have the power to scare Inoue at all and its hard to see him make himself tricky enough to avoid Inoue for 12 rounds.

While Tete can probably beat Burnett at his own game and outbox him I don't think Inoue will care what game Burnett brings, he will do what he always does go hunting for his opponent with his powerful jab and the moment he senses blood jump on him.

I hope he can do it and Britain can have a definite P4P star afterwards but I think its an almost Impossible task.

 

I really rate Burnett in terms of his ability. He reminds of Amir Khan though with his in ring discipline /concentration.

I don't think he wins this WBSS. Should beat an old Donaire but you never know.

 

I think he has a very very slim chance ! He is only just 4th favourite at 13/2 with Tete and Rodriquez both second favourite at 6/1 . I don't think he beats any of the three other seeds . Inoue 4/6 is a massive favourite!!

 

Amir Khan? I dunno he reminds my of Haye and Groves with the low jab and wide stance, Adam booth of course used to train them it's just a shame he doesn't have the same kind of power as them.

 

Not in terms of Khan's style. I mean like when Khan used to stand and trade at times, when he should have boxed. Or when Khan would switch off and get caught with silly shots. That is where I think they have similarities. Sorry I should have explained better.

 

Difficult to see. I would not pick him against Tete, Rodriguez or Inoue.

 

Ah right my bad didn't really read it properly I can definitely see what your saying.

Thinking back to the Zhakiyanov fight he did for the most part outbox him, but he did get a tad sloppy at times and seem to think he could slug it out.

 

I’m really excited about this super series. There’s some mouthwatering fights. I think Burnett will sneak past Donaire. Dropping down in weight combined with age just makes me think he’s going to be susceptible to the body shots.

I’ve said this loads now but Inoue is like a smaller version of GGG imo. He’s brilliant at cutting the ring off, great jab, range, economical with his shots to the head and body, each one like a sledgehammer. He dismantles opponents. I think he’d really work over Burnett.

I rate Butler but Rodríguez was levels above him in every department. We all know about Tete...I fancy all 4 top seeds to go through but Burnett will have the biggest struggle imo.

 

I just feel with Donaire Coming down 2 divisions at his age is reckless and he won't be able to give Burnett the hard nights work that he should which is a shame.

 

I think Burnett will comfortably get past Donaire and I’m going to back him to edge past the massively overrated Tete. I don’t think there’s much between them at all and if Burnett can concentrate for the full 12 rounds he should nick it on points. It’s a great battle. I think (like everyone else!) Inoue then wins the tournament.

 

He traded far too much in that fight, made it a lot more difficult than he had to. Ended up in the hospital afterwards which was very worrying.

 

He should beat Donaire, the Tete fight is tricky but booth will have an excellent game plan in place for that.
I can’t see him beating Inoue but you never know there could be a few upsets along the way.
The guy Tete is fighting first is pretty handy

 

That Aloyan does look pretty good. He’s got a serious height and reach disadvantage in this fight but he looks like he’s got the speed and footwork to move in under Tete’s jab.

 

I dont see it, he's solid but it's a tough field and the draw was not kind.

That being said these tournaments rarely go as you'd think so here's hoping.

 

To be honest mate the first two have gone to script . Top two seeds in both weight classes have got to the final and the top seed winning the only completed one so far.
