Gonzalez has taken too much heat around here since he's been fighting on HBO. His four opponents in Sosa, Viloria, Arroyo, and Cuadras have been excellent. I want to see him fight Inoue or rematch Estrada soon, but Estrada's been injured and with Gonzalez only just moved up to 115 Inoue hasn't made sense yet.

Very simple, both fights were close and the declared winners (Choco and Ward) were both moving up in weight. The difference most agree that Gonzalez deserved the decision against Cuadras.
The opposite is true for Ward as most observers agree Kovalev deserved the decision against Ward. But the biggest kicker is Ward gave his word to an immediate rematch when he signed the contract for the fight and now he is trying to change the terms after the fact. ***** move. Gonzalez vs Cuadras fight had no terms for a rematch. Therefore if he does voluntarily grant Cuadras a rematch then it just enhances his legacy. Ward must give the rematch to kovalev or it will detract from his legacy. In conclusion, Gonzalez = pass. Ward = no pass.
