I give him no credit. His fanbois take the fact that he was overweight and not prepared as if it were a circumstance he couldn't control. He "took the fight on short notice" -- the opponent got switched from one cupcake to another, but the date didn't change. His team knew well enough when the fight was scheduled for, it's not like they went into a pub a couple weeks ago and said, 'Tyson, we've got a fight on short notice, we need you in the gym.' He had distractions the week of the fight -- his caravan being burned and his wife going ill and a scratch from sparring -- that had NOTHING to do with him being woefully out of shape. You think he gained two stone in that week? He weighed well over 300 before coming into camp, and that's on him. I will credit the referee: Tyson gets buzzed and the ref comes in and warns Abell for hitting him, and takes what seems like 30 seconds to do so, giving Tyson time for recover. The ref does everything but look over his shoulder and say "Sorry, Tyson, I shouldn't have let him hit you in the face, how much time do you need? Let me know when you're ready." Abell gives him some pressure and Tyson can't handle it so he throws an obvious and intentional low blow, right to the cods, and it turns the fight as Abell goes down on the next exchange. Tyson not only throws the low blow, he does so after the ref's clear instruction to break. Tyson tells the ref "it was a body shot." Does he lose a point? Does he get threatened with DQ? No, just a mild wink-and-a-nod "admonishment" to be a little more careful about it. Should we be impressed with this? I wasn't. There are clearly some Fury supporters who are in denial of reality: We see highlights of him working out at a pace that wouldn't wind a little girl and they say, "Oh, Tyson is a workhorse in the gym, he's having a go at you. He's just having fun with the camera." We see him in the ring and it's clear the man hasn't been working out out like a professional boxer. He steps on the scales at 275 pounds and they rise as one and say "He had a weight belt on, he's not overweight at all, you can hear that he has dumbells in his pockets, it's all a work, a publicity stunt." He waddles into the ring obviously out of shape and they say, "Well look at all the man has been through, how can you expect him to make it to the gym and do his roadwork." But he has time to put out videos every day talking up how he wants to fight all the top fighters, yet his team goes out and finds a man who falls when you say 'boo,' a guy who has been knocked out by below-average journeymen. Out of one side of their mouths we get "he can't be arsed to get in shape for an opponent like this" and out of the other Abell is "a dangerous southpaw and the mightiest puncher on the planet." What a farce.
End of the day he came in badly out of shape and still beat a guy quicker then Pulev did, he should of been better prepared and in shape but after the Haye fiasco he clearly fell out of love with boxing, basically his uncle said this camp was about loosing weight, probably about getting Tyson back into boxing again, he could have fought a total can like David Price in his last fight he picked a semi dangerous fighter and won easy without any preperation. It seems to me some just don't want to give Fury credit for anything, He only beat Chisora because Derek was out of shape ect yet when Tyson comes in like that its as if that is how Fury is at his best or something. Notice Chisora doesn't want the rematch he said he wants somebody else in the post fight, me thinks that's because chisora knows if both himself and Fury are in shape Fury beats him again, Only HW i'd be sure of beating Fury is Wladimir. Perez was complete **** in his last fight, Wilder has beaten complete cans Abell is as good as what's on Wilder's record lol. Funny how Fury was going to loose in many people's minds to Chisora, to Johnson ect yet he won and won easy yet gets no credit for either win.
Fury was down over being messed about with the Haye pull outs. Ok I can take that. But still what do we get ? Like a baby he claims "i'm retired" which everybody knew was nonsense. He has no other mean of making decent money. So he was always going to come back. But it did prove 1 thing. He's only in it for the money. And rather than seeing the Haye fight money go up in smoke he didn't like a champ see it as a mere posponement of the big money fights because he'd get there anyway if he's as good as he claims..he in his heart quit. This shows his true character. In a hard fight at top level if things aren't going his way he'll fold. He doesn't have heart. He wants to get rich off a big fight and then retire again. When after a while his money will go down and he'll talk himeself into coming back and his mouth will run again with all the "i'm the best fighter on the planet" When I watched Tyson and later Lennox Lewis coming up I could clearly see talent, skills and speed...they shone on their way up as real prospects. When I watch Fury all I see is big, sloppy and vulnerable. He's not the real deal. Not physically - never really been in good shape ever if you look back. He got into "better shape" but never the kind of shape of say Lewis or Tyson or any other top prosect of the past. All I see in Fury is a a big mouth and a KO waiting to happen. After a loss or 2 in his future and probably this year the hype train will grind to a halt and the crowds of naive believers will disperse...maybe like Wilders hype train will also. I'm from the UK and would pick Wilder over Fury any day...even tho he is sloppy. At least he's reasonably fast and carries 1 punch fight ending power...and I'd see him a big favourite should they ever get that fight on. But they'll carry on avoiding each other for a good while yet.
We're stuck on the Fury Hype Train for a few years yet ... soon as Mr. Flabby gets starched his huggers will turn to Baby Hughie and proclaim him as the next thing. It's already starting.
His opponent was **** and even his trainer said that. He gets credit for the win, but it was nothing impressive.
He did not and you know that well. he said he'll fight, but then refused. The Haye fight came much later. Plus, the Pulev fight was for the mandatory challenger for Wlad's IBF title. A fight Fury kept saying he wants and keeps running away from. The guy's big on words, but he just talks ****. Plain and simple!
:rofl What a hypocrite! When Wlad agreed to fight Chisora, then took a better offer and much called for fight with Haye, you call that a duck.....but when Fury does it, it isn't a duck. Typical Brittardism.
You people keep saying fury beat abell better than pulev blah blahh 1 year inactivity ring rust but you forget that pulev got abell 1 week replacement for sherman williams and also when pulev was out fpr 1 year he came back ring rusty and beat a 10 times better oponnent like tony the tiger thompson so.... stfu Also Pulev wasnt hurt or in any trouble when he fight abell it wasnt a knockdown it was more like a slip. get over it Pulev>Fury late tko same scenario like Ustinov .
