Does Hatton's performance v Mayweather start to look better as time goes on?

First 6 rounds it was interesting, 7th Hatton started getting frustrating cos anyone else in the world under the pressure he put Mayweather under they would have folded. Mayweather took the best Ricky Hatton, thats why he wasnt the same again... he knew, his best wasnt thee best. but he did better than Guerrero, Marquez and Mosley, barring the two shots Mosley landed.

Hatton put up a great performance that night regardless of the outcome,he had his game plan and stuck to it and didn't stop trying right up until he got knocked out you could see he genuinely wanted to win that fight and was willing to risk getting knocked out for it.Robert Guerrero on the other hand looked lost in there,after all his talk and bravado in the build up it became clear mid way through that he was only there for the pay day.Losing to Floyd for a 3million purse will probably be the highlight of his career.

 

He got knocked out because he was actually trying to win the fight and not just survive like the rest of the stiffs that have fought Floyd.

Guerrero being the perfect example,after the 3rd round he looked like he wanted to go home.

 

i posted a link in another forum where someone from ESPN actually had ricky up 4-1 going into the sixth round, again doesnt mean much but i think ricky was alot more competitive then people giv him credit for,,

his work got a little sloppy but he smoothered mayweather and didnt giv him an inch to breath

then obviously he lost his head mayweather adjusted got that extra inch he needed and started pickin hatton apart even on the inside, the last 2 or 3 rounds were brutal for hatton he did well to last as long as he did

Hatton did a lesser job than Cowdell did on Sanchez. You never see him being praised.

 

Hatton got KTFO and Mayweather was never in danger of losing.
It was nothing for Hatton to be embarrassed about, he gave it a go and didn't get blown out like he would against Pacquiao, but there's really nothing in the performance that would 'start to look better as time goes on'. It's not as if Mayweather has KO'd everyone else with his first punch ever since.
Hatton's the same as most the rest, some did a little better, some a little worse. In recent years most have been going the distance with Mayweather.

 

Hatton may have been aggressive against Floyd Mayweather but Floyd Mayweather totally dominated him and knocked him out. Floyd also showed Hatton he knew how to deal with rough stuff and showed a few tricks of his own. It was pathetic to hear Hatton complaining of the rough stuff later. All the guys Floyd fought post Hatton have done better than Hatton did except for Victor Ortiz who got stopped earlier.

 

I think it's actually one of Hatton's better performances. He troubled Mayweather on the inside (so much so that he had to resort to a range of dirty tactics to keep Hatton hesitant), and won a couple of early rounds based on sheer aggression and work rate. I hated Hatton's ugly, mauling style and I think the Kostya performance is overrated, but credit where it's due, he really went for it.

 

He can only fight one way, so he's always going to look like he's 'trying to win'.

Truth is after the sixth round he was extremely happy to smother his own work in order to get a bit of respite and even that didn't work for too long.

 

I gave Hatton 2 rounds, I thought he made Mayweather work hard for the victory & I respected that Hatton refused to accept defeat.

I'm of the belief that Hatton could've done what the likes of Guerrero did & accept a points defeat at the mid way stage but he didn't & went out on his shield.

He probably gained respect but you've got to ask if it was the right move? His punch resistance never seemed the same after that fight, in the last few rounds he took a sustained beating.

Hatton barley won rounds in there, I did not understand the SKY teams commentary.

Well I did but it was biased as well.
