Yeah, the same Tarver who pretty much owned RJJ for 3 fights. The same Tarver who beat Glen Johnson. I thought he beat Johnson in both fights actually. He also destroyed Eric Hardin and Montel Griffin. Tarver was highly regarded prior to his fight with Hopkins. But Tarver lost his confidence after fighting Hopkins IMO.
Glad to see I have an admirer. :good Victoria and her hubby had an infulence in politics over there. Especiallly when they were dealing with terrible famines in Ireland. Remember it was the decisions of Europeans to come over here in the first place, and we have a great history, try reading up on it sometime you may actually learn something. The revoultionary war, 1812, Europe begging for help in WWI, again cleaning house in WWII, and even today. They might as well rename those islands "the United Kingdom of America's *****" because that is history with it comes to the relationship between the U.S. and the U.K.
Rummy my man , do you really believe that ? Not talking about 35 year old hopkins here but Hopkins as he is now , do you really truly believe Hopkins could even keep Calzaghe off him. If you do then fair enough a man is entitled to his opinions but I gotta know !
You know much more about boxing than I do!:deal But you don't know half as much as you think you do, if you think Hopkins would unpick Joe!
I agree. Kessler did everything by the book; but his upright style and rigidity was his downfall against Slappy McSlaperton (although I give him credit, Joe threw a lot of good punches in that fight). But the way he comes in and tries to open up and everything just seemed like it would give X so many opportunities to pick his spots and effectively counter and neutralize Calzaghe's offense. That, and I don't think we have any way of knowing how Joe will react to the sheer dirtiness of Hopkins' fighting style.
I actually don't claim to know very much. I just watch the fight and look at what the guys are doing and try to imagine what would happen if a person with a different skillset was fighting.
I'm as serious as a heart attack and maintain Hopkins will surprise many when he beats Joe next year. :good
What, throwing 20 punches a round? atsch Mary Hopkins doesn't have the power to hurt Calzaghe and he sure isn't going to out-point him.
And that's an outstanding point! Few pugilists can bend the rules without getting caught the way Hopkins can. He often wins the mental battles by flustering his opponents to the breaking point.
He is one of the smartest fighters in boxing today, Joe has an akward style but Nards is even more difficult to figure out.
Yeah. And it can suck someone right out of their gameplan and make them do stupid ass ****. It's happened to me before. It;s bad enough having to worry about what's coming at you when you're facing someone with Hopkins' counterpunching skills and defense, but it's even worse if you have on your mind the fact that if he gets close and has the opening, you're going to be hit in the hip, the thigh, the balls; you're going to be headbutted, forearms, elbowed; anything that he has the chance to do to rough you up and break up your mentality.
