I don't think they're much better than in the past. Eddie's put on a couple of good fights here and there, but I've not seen anything that's wowed me. Even Froch-Kessler is just a rematch. Hopefully Eddie turns it around during the rest of 2013.
I didn't say it was. I just don't think Eddie is making the sort of ground-shaking, high-quality shows that fans were promised when he took over all of Sky's boxing output.
Some of the stuff churned out on ffn was diabolical. Can't believe people want to see those days again.
That it's not like Eddie is putting together great matches on his own steam. Froch-Kessler was an obvious rematch to make, that any promoter would have gone for. If he makes Quigg-Frampton, or Groves-Stieglitz/Abraham, or something like that, then ok.

Debacles like Nicky cook fight was not good for sport! Barney Francis I think had virtually had enough of it! Lucky it still on!
Hearn has put on average cards so far, maybe a touch better then hatton or Maloneys cards on Sky but nothing really special. Just because Hearn engages with fans on twitter shouldn't give him a pass from any criticism then what other promoters get. Bottom line is if Frank was putting on the same cards on Sky that Hearn has put on lately he'd be getting far more pelters. I do give him credit for making Bute-Froch but even then that was down to Froch looking so poor against Ward and the Bute team thinking they were coming to Nottingham to feast on the remains of Froch. I'm ho hum about the Kessler-Froch rematch, the first fight was hardly the classic some people seem to think it was...yes it was a pretty entertaining fight all be it a pretty sloppy one but bottom line it's stilll a fight between two guys Andre Ward beat very easily and dosen't deserve the PPV treatment. If he keep's up his mediocre cards on sky he'll be found out eventually even by his loyal worshippers.
Yes, it does but I want quality over quantity. The cards used to be domestic shite. Boring undercards with so so main events that didn't always deliver. I'd much rather one card every 3 or 4 weeks but it has depth and quality.
The Friday Fight Night's we used to get with Dilks-Adamu or Matthew Hatton-Roberto Belge headlining were in the main terrible and I'm not sad we don't get them anymore. Hearn's had some stinking shows like that Barker-Rotolo one but in the main there are more competitive fights on his cards, which also seem to have more solid undercards. It's a shame the Hatton's weren't kept on cos the Quigg-Monroe show which was their last on Sky was really good. It's always a pity when a promoter with a good stable doesn't have a mainstream TV deal but in all truth, the two Frank's, especially Maloney, made some really poor fights. And it shows now on Boxnation whose domestic coverage is just garbage.
Couldn't it be said that any good fight is an obvious fight? Wouldn't Brook vs Hatton and Froch vs Bute be examples? I like Hearns style of matchmaking. Some fights will be mismatches and boring but theres usually a point to them. Bellew vs Miranda & Bolonti lead him to a WBC Eliminator for example. He doesn't have fighters redefending the British title once there beyond that level for this stupid "I want to own the title outright" rule.
