His mother, his barber(when he's not fighting with the Grizzly Adams beard) lol. I hate his style but I admire his resiliency in the face of embarassing setbacks(Tua, Jones, and Toney losses) He has the ability to win a title but not in any way shape or form that is remotely inspiring. Add to that the fact that his abilities are very average for world class fighter and what you get is a not very popular fighter(even in Puerto Rico)

I'd still love to see him against Haye though.

On the flip side, how many HWs have come back from a brutal 15 sec KO1 to become a two-time champ?

Man I f*ckin love John Ruiz. The Quiet Man, who0o0o0o0o!!! No. Not really. He isn't a bad fighter. Difficult style for most heavyweights. Not guys like Jones, Toney or a David
Haye. Smaller fast types. Or of course a Klitschko would beat him down. But am I a fan? Haha.....no.

Good point. I guess a few of Tua's opponents have been in that position to come back from a quick knockout, but he has been the most succesful.

I agree that Ruiz is not the most exiciting out there, but i give him his props because he has beat alot of quality fighters . Bottom line he does what it takes to win and i give him that. He has a decent punch, decent chin and a style that is difficult for must top Hwts. Also hes Latino , so i root for him( IM MEXICAN/AMERICAN) I KNOW we are Rivals with the Boricuas but when it comes down to it He looks like a Mexican to me. If he was a welter or feather etc. I probably wouldnt be a fan,but Ruiz and Arreola are the Main Vatos. Just like all the white boys use to root for Moorison and Cooney back in the days.

there's something about him that deserves respect even though I couldn't stand him when he was a beltholder (especially after those gifts towards the end of his run). probably all those trips to Europe did it, the guy will go anywhere and fight anybody.
