i think he's more explosive than maidana, maidanas power is the clubbing, george foreman type while ortiz is the explosive haye/tyson type.

p.s not saying either are good as tyson or foreman.

no, maidana's power is incredible. it's just ortiz have better accuracy than maidana.if ortiz is the one fighting morales (or maybe khan), he would've been able to score knockouts

    It depends on the weight.

    140, yes.

135, most likely (but we'll never see him there).

    147, yeah.

154, probably not. (people are talking about throwing him in with Alvarez)

His punches are very heavy, but he doesnt have that snap and placement which results into one punch KO's
If he picked his punches a little more when Berto was against the ropes, he could have knocked him out.
Ortiz needs to somehow find a way to set up his right hook on the inside, and double it up from body to the head similar to how JCC does it

I think Maidana and Ortiz hit about the same, it's just that Ortiz is a lot more polished and will be more successful at getting the KO.

Last night he was smothering many of his shots when Berto was on the ropes but still had good steam on them.

I think he is a 1 punch KO guy and I think he certainly hits harder than Maidana.

    Maidana's power is overrated.

Ortiz is a proper puncher - look how he had Peterson all over the place only to mess it up and not finish the job. And the KD in round 6 last night where he found that punch from nowhere.

His power is there, however he needs to work on how to finish.

I'd say he has a complete different type of power, like it's the "pop" in his punches that make them powerful, his punches are very crisp and sharp

I don't think Ortiz is a 1 punch KO artist, if he was he would have KO'd Peterson, but he didn't. He is a very crisp and accurate puncher though and he has great recovery skills.
