Does Ponce Deleon have any chance whatsoever against Gamboa?

He hits very hard (and finishes well) and Gamboa is susceptible to being floored. Of couse he has a chance.

However, he should still be a massive underdog.

    Orale mi Cubanito!!!

I gotta agree with you on the point you made about, " if no one knew the Country nor the Nationality of Gamboa and PDL..." Yes, most would pick Gamboa if not all. But since we know PDL is from Mexico, where many fighters have great will and heart that somehow at times enable them to defeat more skilled fighter. One cannot completly count him out. And man, Mexican have been having a pretty good year in 2011. Orale!

Yeah, Gamboa is a phenom, no doubt, ese mulatico esta tremendo! But he does have his flaws, and as long as there are flaws there will always be a chance of defeat. But I will admit, Ponce is not that technical of a fighter to easily expose and capitalize on Gamboa's flaws.

I think PDL will last longer than the 4th to be honest, he will not underestimate Gamboa like he did Lopez. Should be a good scrap and it should be a win for Gamboa. :good

    Orale!

Good post. This year the Mexicans have been doing great, stopping many Champs and overcoming the odds. The Mexs are always very dangerous indeed, as they always have a solid Chin ( most of them but not all ), are very aggressive and never back away. The Mexs bring exciting to boxing and are always much alive in the fights. The Cubans are beginning to get to know the Mexican fighters, Gamboa already knows a couple of them in Ramirez, Salido and Solis and so far has passed the Test with flying colors! ;)

Casamayor also fought many Mexicans and only lost to Marquez but many feel ( including myself ) that he was already past his best days. As long as Gamboa boxes PDL and doesn't go crazy he will easily TKO him or beat him by decision. He has to be careful as De Leon can punch but Gamboa has fought many good ones to this point.

I am very frustrated in seeing that Gamboa was stripped of his 2 World Belts, he is the best featherweight in the World WITHOUT A BELT! Chris John has confirmed that he is avoiding Gamboa like the flu, and Arum knows that Gamboa is the man so he doesn't want to risk his other prospects against El Ciclón. Three great fights now would be: Gamboa-Garcia, Gamboa-Gonzalez, or Gamboa-Rojas but they are not happening!

Gamboa should wait a bit longer and see what happens at 126 pounds then move on to 130lbs. He is a very unique talent and he deserves to collect all the Belts and at 126lbs I think he is being pushed to the side by the crooked promoters.

Saludos mi hermano, que viva Mexico! :good

Yeah, that Arum is a snake. Stripping Gamboa was a foul move. I'm not even mentioning John into the 126 mix, he's handlers are cowards. There are so many other fighters that will make for a good fight, like the ones you mentioned. I would still like to see Gamboa vs Lopez :D, Gamboa vs Salido II, Gamboa vs Dib, even Gamboa vs Caballero would be good just to see Gamboa knock out Celestino.:bbb

The comparison to Buster Douglas/Tyson is not valid. Those watching in those times knew that Tyson was partying and not taking Buster seriously. Plus, Buster was known to have good days and bad days. It was a matter of which Buster showed up that night. Make no mistake about it, Gamboa is not on cloud nine about himself. He is looking for a challenge. Styles make fights and anything can happen, but Gamboa is just a great fighter to watch. I also agree that PDL did more to win the fight against Broner, but he never hurt Broner. He just was busier than Broner. Cannot really see how Broner won that fight, as he seemed to lose it more than PDL won it.

Very similar outcome but possibly Gamboa ending it by KO this time in less than 8 rounds. :good
