It's speaks volumes about how humble and down to earth ricky is to still be working shifts for buttons in a sports shop.
On the other hand I find it annoying that in this day and age a world title holder and decent ticket sellar needs to work a second job to make ends meet.
Rickys fights at the braehead probably generate around 300-400 thousand pounds per fight i'd say, ricky clearly isn't getting what he deserves.

Must be on more than that I think? Doesnt seem too much for world title level? some guys get that or near that for british title, obvioulsy not all the time, depends on who they fight

Cant see it being much more than that, he what fights in a 4000 seat stadium? On normal sky sports? Where is the money coming from? He is not a big name in reality. He is a world champ but5 cant see him earning more than that maybe Billy could give us a ball park figure without being to specific.

I don't think it's entirely a money issue why Burns is still working.

He probably likes to fill his time doing something constructive, surrounding yourself with normal people and doing normal things.... and getting paid for doing it.

It's too easy for professional sportsmen to fall into the trap during your down time - get involved with the wrong crowd, going out on the **** regularly, gambing etc.

If he's getting £50k a fight, fighting four times a year he's carving out a decent living by anyone's standards. Can't knock him in all honesty.

He is going the right way about it in my opinion its a great way of keeping yourself grounded.

Realistically a fighter has 5 years at the top of his game to earn the best money he can. and Burns is probably a year or two into that.

Most fighters carry on like this will go on forever whilst they are earning money they spend it and act like it will never end but the only inevitability is that it will one day and sadly unlike with footballers who know they have 2-3 years left a boxers career can be finished after 1 devastating loss.

Not saying Burns will ever suffer such a loss or that nature but its good to see him grounded and obviously wise with his money.

For the benefit of the Inland Revenue I would like to state Burns has never done a "homer" and never will. :nono
