Does RJJ have a chance in hell against The Mighty Adamek?

    And another thing, I dont think that prime Jones and Mayweather werent elite fighters they were special fighters, all time greats in terms of talent and what they can do in the ring. Not many of those fighters come along.

    The way I see Adamek is that he is a fighter that can beat top guys, and if everything lines up for him that night he can beat elite fighter or even a great fighter. The guy is good, no doubt. I dont think that he would ever be a top 5 p4p kind of fighter.

    Problem is Hopkins has beat those kinds of fighters, and in case you forgot Jones beat Tarver in the first fight. Your now comparing two old past thier primes dudes with a prime fighter. I can see were your going with that one:patsch

    I might be willing to agree with this post.

    I would just add that Floyd actually is an amazing BOXING talent, whereas Roy was merely an athletic talent. And unlike truly GREAT fighters in the rich history of the sport, Jones was never a true champion in the mold of the true greats--not even close.

    The verdict is still out on Floyd, however, and I am willing to give him the benefit of the doubt. He has a chance to attain that status, still.

    Hopkins is absolutely elite, and is definitely a better fighter than Jones, in my view.

    That said, when did Jones ever beat an explosive pressure fighter with a good punch?

    I can't think of any.

    Dawson isnt a crusierweight, hell the guy isnt even a lt heavyweight. He is a supermiddleweight that is fighting at lt heavyweight.

    I dont think that its narrow-minded at all. You wouldnt consider a team in any other sport elite if they kept losing to the same teams over and over again would you??

    Joe Frazier lost to Ali a boxer, but he also beat Ali. He lost to Foreman a banger but he beat beat bangers as well...

    None fit, and would be seen as elite fighters in my mind.

    Okay. Sounds like you're changing the terms of the debate to fit your argument.

    I'm hard-pressed to think of an opponent Frazier beat with a style like Foreman, but I'm sure you can think of someone who'd qualify in your eyes.

    Who was the explosive pressure fighter that can punch that Jones beat?

    I am curious to hear the name. The Foreman-like fighter who Frazier beat, too, if you do not mind.

    I do not, I repeat, do not want RJJ to take this fight.

    If he does, I'll be on the verge of a nervous breakdown when he gets tired in the middle rounds and Adamek begins his tirade while RJJ is on his ear muff defense on the ropes......no I don't want to go through that.

    I never go against a fighter taking a tough fight....but I love RJJ too much, I'd rather see him take someone else.

    He can root for whomever he wants. He's presented some rather weak arguments in this thread, but I'm still curious to hear his answers from my previous questions.

    For me, part of being an elite fighter also involves actively seeking tough fights. Hopkins has done that, Adamek does that, but RJJ has never done that. Ergo, he was an elite talent but never an elite fighter.

    He cowered along the path of least resistance whilst never daring to be great.

    Adamek might not have the physical talent of a lot of all-time greats, but he has a heart to match them. So does Hopkins. Jones, not so.

    Anyway, back to thread, do you think Jones is really stupid enough to take a fight with Adamek, or is he crying wolf as he did all so often throughout his career?

    Adamek wins and easily, RJJ is beyond shot.

    I'll be surprised if Adamek and his team even consider this one unless they're seriously out of options.
