    You don't have any real evidence that he ducked the DM fight first off, because if you don't have Jones on tape saying, "DM is too tough a fight, and I'm kind of scared of him", then you ain't got any real evidence. Don't post some wack ass quote that Jones said he isn't going to Germany. Jones heard the water was bad anyway lol. DM heard the same about water in America. Second, if Jones never dared to be great, point out the men he ducked, or didn't fight. The man rose from 154 to 199. Did roy duck Lyle, Nunn, DM,??? Yeah, Jones was a businessman, but his resume is shitting all over DM's and Adamek's put together.

    this is true to some degree, even some rjj fans will admit to this. this was mostly my gripe with him. he who possessed the greatest talent seen in decades, could have been (and should have been) the greatest.

    Roy should've given Hop a rematch. I can't think of anything else he should've done. Maybe he should've fought Lennox and not Ruiz.

    Roy's been done since the Tarver rematch. His fans know it, I know it, but it won't stop me from rooting for him to ko Hershey big block headed Adamek.

    I'm a big Roy fan, but that would not have gone well for Roy.

    Here is a short list of names (off the top of my head) that do not appear on Roy's resume (I never used the word "duck", for the record):

    * DM
    * Julian Jackson
    * Gerald McClellan
    * Nigel Benn
    * Chris Eubank
    * Jirov
    * Hopkins rematch

    And again, I never used the word "ducked". I'm just saying, Roy somehow missed a lot of good fighters along the way.

    How many fighters, by comparison, are conspicuously missing from Muhammad Ali's resume? Sugar Ray Leonard's? You get the point.

    I just want to add that Adamek is definitely an elite fighter. There are thousands of fighters out there. When a fighter is in the top 15-20 p4p or better, you're part of boxings elite imo. Elite can't just be based on natural ability or what you possibly could do to another fighter, but how you have proven your self against the best available fighters of your time.

    Why do you think he fights on? I thought he should have retired after the Johnson debacle, or at the very least, after the rubber match with Tarver where it was apparent that he never even tried to win. (Had he fought the whole fight like he did in the 5th, he may have stopped Tarver early).

    He was content to avoid any meaningful exchanges and coast to a lopsided decision loss.

    I really have no idea why he continued after that.

    And I agree, he would have gotten hurt by Lewis, but he probably should have targeted Byrd or perhaps even Tyson after the Ruiz win.

    Had he retired after the Ruiz win, his legacy would be amazing. I think Roy is one of the few fighters whose legacy took a big hit for hanging around too long.
