Does RJJ see a weakness in Calzaghe he thinks he can exploit?

    I suggest a re-watch, without trying to pretend like your fav didn't get hit. Trinidad hits him plenty early on. Plenty.

    He adjusted though. Unfortauntely his adjustment is that high guard style, which is fine against a shot Trinidad that has no stamina, but its destined to give up a lot of rounds to the work-rate of Calzaghe

    Calzaghe was looking like a fool until Hopkins gassed out due to age, Calzaghe isn't this super boxer that some people think he is.

    Very true. But I think that is the first time I've seen someone state that on here. Normally it's the slappy insults.

    That is utter nonsense. He wasn't gassed out by round 4. He was out-maneuvered.

    Did you see the fight at all? Calzaghe outworked Hopkins, he didn't outbox him. Stop trying to turn Calzaghe's win over Hopkins into a classic boxing masterpiece, it wasn't. Hopkins lost a close fight to a younger man due to fatigue, age.

    I've seen the fight three times, as painful as that was. Calzaghe won on strategy. Who the hell said anything about a boxing masterpiece. If Hopkins lost due to fatigue how come he was losing rounds so early? Because he didn't lose because of fatigue, he got frustrated and couldn't execute. By round 10, yes, Hopkins was winded, but that's not only because of his age (he was not that much younger against Tarver, remember?) but also because he had to try to adjust so often, an mostly to no avail. You're not from Philadelphia by any chance? :lol:

    Hopkins losing had nothing to do with Calzaghe's skill, Calzaghe started desperately slapping Hopkins when he saw Hopkins getting tired. Before that he was terrified after being knocked down.

    This confirms what ive known for a while;
    ie.Ciani has just put up an article about this,showing again(to me anyway) that the writers get a lot of ideas,phrases,arguments,topics etc from the ESB forums to write things about.

    Jones looked very rusty when he fought Hanshaw, but he had no problems knocking him on his ass when he needed to.

    Agreed, Calzaghe getting the better of Hopkins had more to do with the fact that Hopkins was just too tired to keep up the pace.

    Speed.
    Even at this age Jones Jr's hand Speed is still 2x that of Calzaghe

    I'd say RJJ should look for a big counter-shot early on and try to finish Calzaghe as quickly as possible. Calzaghe has never faced a puncher on the level of Jones and as we know the power is the last thing to go. Jones might think that Joe believes that Roy's lost his killer instinct, given Jones's lack of fire in his last few fights.

    Out-boxing Calzaghe is tough when you're an inactive old man, as Hopkins showed. Jones should thus resort to his second great attribute, his power, operating mainly with a feinting left hook, a lead right hand and then a series of left hooks.

    Well, I did start the thread topic, and no doubt, discussing angles on ESB helps you think of ideas you might otherwise have considered.

    Are you saying this is a bad thing?
