Does the General Forum grind anyone else here down sometimes?

Absolutley, I made a bit of a **** of myself more than once when I was new to this place and I was getting fired up thanks to the attitudes over yonder. Reckon I still owe TFFP an apology for the way I acted. :-(

    Grinding down is right !

The Classic Forum are having their own take-the-**** thread.

Check it out: "Bernard Hopkins v Jesus Christ"

When I am not on the Brit Forum I would usually hang around the Classic (the guys know their boxing history inside out); kind of like on here, intelligent debate with minimal mud-slinging.

THis stuff works both ways..the pro Haye brigade or the pro Hatton brigade prior to Mayweather fight are highly annoying as well.

Would be great if there was a separate forum for idiot to flame each other and hate and nuthug all they wish.

I like the Classic too, as long as you can back your opinion most people on there are cool and relaxed. I thought I knew my boxing history before I started posting there!!! I can just about hold my own on the 1980s, Alis career and British fighters but thats about it.

They may be largely Brits but they don't tend to post in here though.

Tell me about it! I got some idiot with over 3,000 post (probably most of which were just "Calzaghe is **** LOLZ" standard) telling me to "GTFO newb" despite the fact I've been a member longer than he had!

The problem with the general forum is it's full of pig ignorant Yanks who don't realise the sport of boxing exists outside their own country. There are some good American posters but a lot of them are the same idiots who will happily sit and bang on about a "world series" in a sport that no other fcuker plays!!

There's a guy on the general moron forum who claims Kessler cannot be considered a worthwhile opponent because he's 'European'.

    I kid you not.

My pet peeve that one, this whole "Eurobum" B.S. they have, no European fighter can be considered world class, they are all over-protected bums with padded records because Americans can't recognise any of the names, just waiting to be exposed by the superioir American fighters. While at the same time Kelly Pavlik is a superstar because he beat Jermaine Taylor yet had an equally average resume full of C & B level Americans apart from JT .. IMO.

But this is part of a wider Europhobia that seems to infest America, if something good happens in Europe or Europe achieves something, the Americans are quick to jump on it and try to discredit the thing. It's like a personal slight against them.

The best places too discuss boxing on ESB are the Brit forum, classic forum and the Euro forum. The classic is a bit too elite for someone like me so I just have a read of the posts there. The euro forum has good threads with knowledgeable posters but is a bit too quiet at times. The Brit forum is great, even when threads get a bit heated (ones usually regarding Hatton or Calzaghe ) there is still respect between posters and no one resorts to 'stfu noob' and all that bollocks.

99% of the threads on the GF are just a pile of **** which is a shame as some of the posters know their stuff and make valid points but the majortiy are ******s.

Dont post on here a lot but have to say its a breath of fresh air to read a decent thread like this for once, I generally read the general forum and it winds me the **** up, although I still go back for more ...I must be nuts myself!
There are some really good impartial US posters on there but 90% of the americans are head shot, I hate to use stereotypes but they really do make you wonder if americans really are as ignorant, insular, anti-european and uneducated as some claim!
I've noticed lately though a lot of Brits are fed up of all the **** and are giving as good as they get which is great to see amongst all the hypocrisy!

There have been several posts off of new british posters on one particular thread that to be honest made me ashamed of where I am from. Making a joke about the twin towers is pretty low under any circumstances.
