Does Tyson run through Marcianos resume unbeaten ?

I would respond to this with two questions:

1. Why couldn’t he handle his power?
2. What pressure?

 

We have some fairly entrenched positions here, and neither side seems to be budging.

It seems to come down to a fundamental disagreement, not about the respective merits of Marciano and Tyson, but of their respective opposition.

 

Not exactly. The fundamental disagreement is that some of us view 1990-1991 Tyson as an explosive, dangerous, powerful 217-lb fighter who would have steamrolled over much smaller, older men. Others don't.

 

I guess it comes down to the fact that one camp values size, and the other favours results.

 

Yeah, that must be it. Funny how you get quiet whenever anyone brings up Ezzard Charles' results though.

 

I will take his results over Douglas’s, any day of the week and twice on Sundays.

 

Size, speed, balance, defense and variety of attack...

 

Because Tyson massively outweighs him with pure muscle, is one of the hardest punchers in boxing history and the most comparable matchup saw Charles stopped by Rocky and Tyson stopping Spinks.

The physical pressure of having a 220 ripped power punching monster looking to take him out.

 

I'd assume the camp favouring results wouldn't be harping on about Charles who was old, past his best and sporting a point five-oh record.

 

For all you guys saying Tyson goes undefeated, consider this: Tyson in his 49th fight had to come from behind to beat BOTHA, yet that very same version of Tyson is beating Archie Moore? Typical Tyson fanboy logic.

 

That was 10 years past his prlme.

 

That was his 49th fight. Just as Moore was Marciano's 49th fight. I think Moore, Walcott, and Louis, among others, would beat him.

 

Yeah, I think the question is premised on how a prime Tyson does against Marciano's resume. Granted one could point out that is not a luxury enjoyed by Marciano.

 

More or less my logic as well.

A prime Tyson likely does 49-0 as well. But that's an unfair question, not allowing for "off" nights and the wear and tear of an entire career.

A Tyson over Marciano's career I think does drop a couple.
