Their are no C.Wrights, S.Angott , S.Saddlers to name a few on his scalps list either, nor is their 229 pro fights, his best opponent was a blown up Rigondeaux a blown up and ancient at 37 yrs old natural bantamweight. Lomo at 30yrs old will probably not get much better than he is now and has had only 13 pro fights. 0ne of those 13 a loss. Now he is being compared to W.Pep? No he doesn't pass the eye test because his competition has been so nondescript. Not saying he doesn't have ability because he does. But let's stop drinking the kool-aid and comparing him to a fighter he can never come close to as far as ring experience, and opponents defeated. Even on the amateur level to compare him to the amatuer competition of yrs past is silly. He is good for his time, nothing more or less. But that's only how I see it.

The only guy i see that can beat him is Mikey Garcia . which is why i dont want the Garcia vs Spence fight to happen. If Garcia wins they'll probably never fight and if Garcia loses and comes back down he may never be the same again

We're talking about what we see.

And what I see is comparable.

Of course he's never going to have that resume.

I really hope he drops back to 130. If he beats Berchelt and Machado he’s top 10 at the weight if not top 5. Eduardo Hernandez is on the up too. I seriously doubt a fight with Gervonta Davis can be made due to politics though.

Waiting around for Mikey and fighting Top Rank scrubs in the meantime is a waste of everyone’s time IMO.

Hardly fair on Lomochenko to burden him with that level of expectation. Faced with that, he's almost destined to fail.

Not that being lesser than Pep makes him a failure.

I don't see it at all. I see a good fighter for his time. And I wasn't the person who initially compared him to Pep. I just refuted that nonsense .

In what ways does he fall short on the eyeball test in your opinion? When you've watched Lomachenko’s fights, have you seen any specific flaws or limitations? In your opinion, would a true great like Pep have looked more impressive against Lomachenko’s opponents?

Yeah, somebody would really have to hate Loma or the modern era to be able to watch him and not see once in a generation type of skill

Agree. I see a lot of similarities between Pep and Lomachenko. Again: Loma will likely never rank as high as Pep on an ATG scale because he simply doesnt have the time to get in the fights (and some would argue he lacks the great opponents too) but skill wise he very much impresses.

I think the Linares fight showed he needs to be more cautious if he's fighting the likes of Garcia, as in naturally bigger punchers. His chin isn't bad, but maybe not to the level needed to pull off going up a load of divisions. He is extremely good though, and i wouldn't count him out.

That there's people fighting in the Amateurs so long, basically backed as professionals, is why I don't care about pros being allowed in the olympics.

Then again, it showed he could get up off the canvas and go on to win. Good signs. I'm sure he'll adjust accordingly.

Honestly imo nobody deserves the #1 p4p title. Everyone is unproven in my eyes. Canelo has the best win, being GGG, but it's highly disputed. Usyk unified his division, but over who? Gassiev? I want to see:

Usyk vs (whoever wins fury vs Wilder here) vs AJ

Spence Jr (assuming he beats Garcia) vs Crawford vs Canelo

Garcia (assuming he beats Spence Jr) vs Lomachenko

Whoever wins Garcia vs Spence Jr will probably be the #1 p4p in my eyes.

Gentlemen its ALWAYS about the competition. It's easy to look like a "Superstar" with suspect competition. Theirs a plethora of fighters throughout boxing history that looked great until they stepped up to live competition. My cautionary tale is always Jaime Garza, but their are plenty of others. Garza started with almost a 40 fight win streak, if I remember right all were ko's. He was a must see on CBS back in the 80's . But the 1st live body he fought, he get's ko'ed. And it wasn't a fluke because after that fight, against better competition he was knocked out almost as much as he won. Unfortunately boxing doesn't have that level of depth anymore. Beating a 37 yr old natural bantam Rigo, and a nothing special Russell Jr. Doesn't equate to S.Saddler or Wright or Angott. At 30yrs old and only 13 pro fights he will NEVER get close to the consistence, the experience, or face the level of competition Pep faced. Pep a very light puncher will probably have more than twice the ko's Lomo will end up with in total pro fights! Think about that. How can they be compared if your honest with self. It's plain to see Lomo has ability, that's not my argument. My concern is making the comparison to Pep at this stage of his career. If he gets another 20/30 wins convincingly against live competition, or defeat a few opponents where he's a live underdog and most think he will lose than I will be more than happy to concede. I don't play the favorites game and if a fighter truly deserve the ATG love I have no problems given it to fighters that deserve it. I even give it to Mayweather Jr. And personally can't stand him.

    OK.
I can't think of anybody that looked more like Pep in the last 20 years. Can you?
