I think most people would agree that Mayweather is not in the top tier of welterweight champions but how would he do against one of the better "tier 2" welterweights in history, Donald Curry?

Curry is faster and would probably have to go slightly against his usual style and be the aggressor in this fight but Mayweather is defensively sound and wouldn't have to go looking for Curry with his accurate counters.

    ......discuss.:D

Curry would cut inside Floyds jab at some point and land his left hand, which was faster, more crisp and powerful than Floyds.

Curry has a lot more offensive variety here. He's no plodder either. I just think he has more in his arsenal. If he doesn't take Floyd out he wins a close(ish) decision IMO.

Do you see any parallels in Mayweather/ Starling who, a slightly before prime, Curry had 2 closeish fights with, Flea?

Curry would nail Floyd at some point -and then Floyd would be real cautious.

I see a controvisal close decsion - going either way.

This would really be an all time great technical fight, I'm a big Mayweather fan and I'd pick him over allot of top WWs, especially the LWs who moved up like Napoles, Armstrong, Ross and maybe even Duran but I think I give the edge to Curry in a close one, who actually outboxes Prime Curry at WW maybe the better Q, I think he has a shot over Leonard but not SRR or Hearns

Gavilan would beat Floyd very decisively IMO. Awful matchup for him.

PP, Floyd to beat Duran  Seriously mate? Armstrong is a bad matchup for him as well I think, I know you're a big Floyd admirer but that is brderline insane thought IMO.

I think Leonard would beat Curry fairly decisively myself. He'll take over late and stop him. The first ten rounds would be riveting stuff though.
