You want examples? 5' 3" Omar "EL HURACAN" Narvaez is the last man who defeated 5' 7" Joan "LITTLE TYSON" Guzman.
height is not weight, just look at paul williams. Nonito has even said this will be his last fight at 118, he will be moving up to 122 for his next fight. Nonito doesn't look very healthy this time around cutting weight, hopefully there will be no issues Saturday. Gamboa is not on the same level as donaire, why does everyone compare them like donaire is the underdog. Gamboa's best win was against Salido, Donaire's best win(s) was against darchinyan and montiel, 2 top ten p4p fighters. This comparison is ****ing laughable, don't even get me started on rigondeaux-thats even worse.
Add in the fact that the guy whose 5'3 throws wide, crude punches and you got HBO paying a tone of money for a one round blowout....**** fight.
Rigondeux is next. Plenty of good fights in the 120s, no need to chase Gamboa. That fight can be a superfight at 140 or 147 in the future as both guys are build in a way where they can move up.
I think eventually Donaire will be at 140 or even 147. He's actually a big dude and naturally is 150lbs so yes he can get up to 147 like Pacquiao and probably be all muscle. But he has to go up slowly so he can collect titles on his way up. He should beat Rigondeux next, then clean out that division for a year, then challenge Gamboa at the end of 2012. By 2013 he should move up to 140.
Only because he is fighting Donaire. But it's never a **** fight when the guy is undefeated. Bradley might not beat Pacquiao but he is undefeated, you cannot make a better match up than an undefeated champion against a P4P star.
Rigondeux is like Bernard Hopkins and Donaire is like prime Roy. Donaire is supposed to win but you never know because Rigondeux is one of the most technically skilled fighters of all time.
I love this place. If it's uncompetitive, and Narvaez gets blown out, then it's because he wasn't very good and it was a mismatch that shouldn't have happened, yeah? If it's at all competitive, neither were very good and Donaire was extremely overrated, ey? Boxing Fan 101. How to hate on both fighters, no matter what. If you don't know how, you're going to be in the minority.
You should know by now that height alone doesn't determine ones weight division. Are you saying that Caballero belongs to MW division?
Is Donaire really having trouble making weight? I vaguely remember that Montiel weighed much heavier than Donaire on fight night so I'm not really expecting Donaire to have trouble making 118.
