Arce? :blood Yeah he wants to unify the 115 belts . . . Arce is not holding a belt. It's either Cristian Mijares; Alexander Munoz; Dimitri Kirilov or Fernando Montiel. He can go straight and challenge them. But I don't have anything against Donaire fighting Arce . . . that would make his name bigger.
I actually think hes much better than Mijares. Fought better opposition. Most people are unaware.. the best fighter Mijares ever fought was Maldonado. Arce was popular but Donaire will wreck Arce
I came away with the fight very impressed with Maldonado..he wasnt bad at all.. very game its just Donaire was THAT good!. I think back now that Mijares drew with Maldonado...it is because Maldonado is capable of troubling any fighter in the division
As I said I have nothing against that happening. Arce is not holding a belt but he is a big name and an action fighter. Arce would be the most solid opposition for Donaire at 115 out of the belt holders.
Like I said the best he fought was Maldonado..couldnt even decision him..Donaire just mowed him. I dont know who started this Mijares crap...I think people here think that Arce was a great fighter. The same Arce that before the Mijares fight people were saying Darchiniyan will dismantle... Look at where Darcinyan is now.. Nonito...ruined him
Congrats Black. That's the first time you ever praised a filpino fighter! I knew you are trying to impress santa coz christmas is near! Nice try! :good
Am I the only one who saw Donaire's flaws exploited by a totally shopworn Maldonado? When Maldonado, who stylistically is made for Donaire would let his hands go, DOnaire was tagged and he froze and didn't know what to do in response except to wait for the round to end, then his corner of course gave him great advice and he re-established his gameplan and it worked. Problems with this is that Maldonado is anything but accurate, and Mijares is ridiculously accurate and keeps a non-stop workrate going with a tight defence, even Maldonado was able to slip some of Donaire's work and Maldonado's defence is terrible. On top of this, when Maldonado did commit to his jab fully, it stopped Nonito in his place and disrupted his speed enough for Maldonado to push forward and land some punches, Maldonado's jab is 'decent', Mijares' jab is a stinging, fast, almost power shot and it's extremely accurate to a scary level when he's pumping it non-stop from the outside. Next we have Mijares' flaw, fighting other people's fight just like Guzman does, however, since he's been utilising his absurd outside skill and defence much more so recently and has been doing the 'machismo - ill beat you at your own game because im more a man' number less and less with maturity, I think he's going to just brutally sharp shoot Donaire to a bad beating and a late stoppage, as Donaire has a leaky defence when underfire. Even if Mijares fights Donaire's fight, which is counter punching and trading shots, he still has a very good defence that Nonito doesn't and his workrate never ends, so Nonito will still be getting ripped with accurate blows. Mijares TKO 10, this is going to be absolutely brutal if it happens.
Arce/Donaire is a toss up guys. Maldonado was nearly totally done, Arce with his MUCH bigger power and workrate and pressure is going to be an issue for Donaire. The Mijares/Maldonado fight was a much worse Mijares and a much better Maldonado back in 2004, it holds no water to the up coming 2008.
The fact that any of you think that these guys are on an even playing field, Donaire and Mijares that is, shows a lack of ability to analyse fighters, because it's not even the same stratosphere and anybody can go on Boxrec and see Mijares Draw Maldonado and then see Donaire TKO Maldonado and think that's a comparison but here is the real comparison - - Mijares is quicker, hands and feet, and his footwork is light years ahead of Donaire's. - Mijares' timing and accuracy is absurd, nearly the best in the sport behind PBF out of all of the fighters in the sport, he lands at a crazy ratio in all of his fights. - Mijares' jab is a stinging, accurate blow that pumps non-stop, Donaire's is just okay. - Mijares' defence is easily 3X as good as Donaire's, as is his head movement, when he's working outside he's extremely hard to hit, but still throwing combinations behind the jab. - Mijares' boxing skill is literally in a whole different universe, Nonito relies heavily on his gift of speed, which is not even on Mijares' level of speed, where as Mijares' has amazing boxing skills and all of the physical gifts. - Mijares' chin is proven as rock solid, Nonito's is not, but Maldonado, a light puncher, seemed to bother him as he froze up. - Mijares' stamina is definitely some of the best in the sport and Nonito has minimal 12 round experience. - Nonito stops throwing punches when workrate is thrown at him, Mijares is ready and willing to throw shot after shot while he's under pressure and workrate. This is a MISMATCH.
