According to Boxrec the fight is confirmed - "Bout subject to change & commission approval".

 

Me too, I honestly think Donaire will blast him out within 6 rounds.

 

I dunno, have a feeling for Rigo.

Donnaire should start as favourite I reckon.

Does Arum actually make 50/50 fights though? Maybe he needs to do this for Donaire as there is no De la Hoya fight for him. Maybe he's following the Pacquaio route by putting him in tough and making his name that way (just like Pac did with Morales/Barerra/Marquez)

 

Boxrec puts fights on the schedule before they're actually signed. It should not serve as any kind of confirmation.

Also, Arum talked a bit about Macau, but every indication is that it will take place in the States.

 

Yeah it would be a strange but nice idea to give a big fight to the people out there.

This fight 8 months ago looked unlikely, But i wonder if Arum sees this as the fight to cash in on asap after all Gamboa vs Lopez was lost due to it being dragged out in hope they could make it a bigger fight. Maybe he's learned a lesson.

I think also Donaire's recent performances and Rigo's not so great displays may sway him into going for it. As you say he doesn't have a ODLH fight..

Interesting comment Billy, I know your busy with Ricky's prep etc but would like to know your thoughts on the fight and why Rigo wins by looks in convincing fashion going off your comment. I take it your not that fussed by Nonito?/.

I'll be honest I do think there'll be a big fight in Macau in the not too distant future although I can't see it being this one unfortunately. As soon as there is one, it'll boom, they don't necessarily need big numbers attending really, just have to fill the hotels/casinos Vegas style.

Its a mouthwatering fight though!

Rigondeaux was getting caught by the left hook and straight right from a relative plodder in Robert Marroquin and in that fight he was wobbled 2-3 times by glancing blows, so I feel if the fight does happen I personally think Donaire will stop him, but only providing he doesn't go in trying to blast him out in a gung ho fashion like in the Vasquez fight.

I'm undecided but im going for Rigo Spilt or Majority decision, being dropped along the way!

 

Rigo's only option is to fight negative, refuse to engage and hope to pickpocket a decision. Unfortunately he's fighting someone who's shown his ability to adapt, go on offence, defend and box against much better opposition.

Donaire takes the Cuban out within eight rounds.

 

That's what makes this fight so interesting for me, Donaire could potentially starch Rigo at any moment, anything less than perfection from Rigo and he doesn't make the final bell!:good
