Lifting heavy weights does not make you lose weight and get in shape.

Solis was 21 in this 201 lbs fight with Haye, and he was 24 when he won Olympic Gold at 201 lbs in 2004.

So there's really no excuses for him. He's gotta get back down to 240 and fast.

Precisely. Heavy weight lifting is anaerobic so you build strength and power, but it doesn't do much for your endurance. Solis is only kidding himself if he thinks he is in optimal shape with all that excess fat clearly visible.

If he dropped about 30lbs, his speed, mobility, and endurance would all improve tremendously. He's been getting by on his skill and power alone against these lesser opponents, but when he challenges the top fighters he'd see some the effects of carrying all that extra weight.

spoke with his trainer once, he said Solis exercise plenty and keeps his stamina for 12 rds in sparring...he says that now he hits way much harder that when he was lighter.
He has a point saying that to beat a Klits u have to carry a lot of power, ask Eddy Chamber how much his speed and mobility helps against Wlad,.The only chance to beat Wlad is getting to his face with a big punch.

He needs to get a grip on his weight.I dont rate him that highly anyway but the state of him is certainly holding him back from getting a big fight.People would see it as a joke if a guy in that shape was fighting for a title.I dont think he would ever win a title but in his current condition he would not get past 2 rounds with any of the 3 champions. It would look terrible for the sport.Fighting a guy in top shape like one of the brothers or Haye is a totally different thing to fighting guys like Welliver or Long Solis would be torn apart.

To beat a Klitschko u got to be quick and mobile. Solis will not be able to catch any Klischko because he is too slow on his feet. Ask, Briggs.

    260-270lbs at 6'1 aint "flabby"... it's FAT!

Solis needs to ask himself; "How many fat guys have gone on to become great heavyweight champions???"

240 is ridiculously overweight. A guy of Solis' height should weigh in at 210-220

Even out of shape Solis is probably the biggest threat to any HW champion. Despite him being portly he's still an extremely intelligent and skilled fighter. And he's fast for his size. He unfortunately is poorly managed.

Right now Solis-Adamek I think would be a fight boxing needs.

Fedor doesn't have a "pretty" build and is in great shape, agreed. That isn't the case with fatass Solis, he's just a sloppy piece of ****.

How much did 'fighting heavy' help Peter, or Briggs, or any of the other overweight fatasses that got their heads punched in?

The last two opponents to go the distance with Wlad since 2005 were Ibragimov and Haye, two small and speedy guys. Chambers would have joined them but for ten seconds of the clock.

The idea that you need to be big to beat a Klit is one of the most inane and baseless bits of drivel still being perpetrated. Anyone who enters a title fight looking like a punchbag deserves to be treated like one.
