:good 99.25% of ducks are risk/reward calculations. Belt unifications don't happen because it often involves too big a risk increment for any increase in money - it makes more finincial sense to sit on the belt. And, of course, contenders will try to target weaker belt holders. Fighters don't fear getting beat up, promoters fear having their income potential crippled.
I'm surprised at this so far. I don't think many fighters actually run from anyone but any time PBF or Calzaghe get mentioned there is no end of "he woudn't fight blah blah".
as i stated in my previous post regarding promoters being the ones who instigate most ducking i feel calzaghes career is one of the best examples of this, for years i accept he was well matched by his promoter/matchmaker and didnt fight the top names in the divison until his hand was forced and he faced lacy all of the ducking that had gone on had led to joe doubting his own belief after that fight joe gained in confidence and was like a dog let off a leash the fight against kessler is a good example of how once rid of this doubt we saw the true joe that had been surpressed by all the politics of matchmaking/protecting investments
