anythings possible in boxing, the last fight i've seen with duddy is the smichet and used that as my gauge. Any fight can be different....anything can happen.
Why? Duddy is a limited, tough, exciting boxer. He's no great, but nobody is saying he is. Personally I'd watch him fight anybody. Phillips is a much better fight for Duddy than Pavlik is at the moment. Duddy needs to improve his defence markedly if he is ever going to be able to mix it with the very best. Phillips on the other had is past his prime and doesn't have the power to really punish Duddy's defensive shortcomings. My guess is that it would a close fight, with Duddy shading it.
I've watched plenty of his fights over the years. I saw the whole Duddy vs Campas fight and Duddy got hit with every single shot Yory Boy threw and quite frankly got his ass beat. It was a gift decision. Frankly after the Smichet debacle I wouldn't be surprised at all if Verno Phillips pounds him out.
Duddy drops down to 154 to pick up a title against a fading fighter? Verno can only turn the clock back so many times. Duddy outworks him for a wide UD. Where does Duddy go from there?
duddy will catch it on here, no matter what...if he loses, he's a bum. If he wins....you'll hear " a prime vernon would kill him " etc trash talk, etc
A fight with Jamie Moore in Ireland should Moore be able to take the European title off Zaurbek Baysangurov, which won't be an easy task . Moore although English has an Irish mother and thus was able to fight for and win the Irish Light-Middleweight title tonight . That was the first step towards working towards a fight between him and Duddy . Should both Duddy and Moore win then expect a fight between them at the Point Depot in Dublin on March 17th in front of 15,000 people . However even though I fancy Duddy to beat Phillips that is still a very live contest and I give Baysangurov the edge against Moore so it is more likely that one of the fighters will lose than both being succesful .
If Duddy wins, say, conviningly = Would that put him in a better position for a shot at Pavlik, or will he still be standing in line behind Abraham?? :think
I say John Duddy wins this by UD, lets not forget that Verno got a gift decision against Spinks in his last fight where he looked tired and out of stanima.
