Who was at this fight and what was it like? I got into dialogue with someone on here and he said it was amazing, anyone else got any stories to share? I only saw the fight on DVD afterwards.

Yeah, I was there. The roof lifted off the 02 that night. I'd been out in town earlier that day watching Ireland win its first grand slam in 60 years. Got to the 02 and the place was buzzing. Early doors I thought Dunne was finished as I never thought he had that in him and going by his previous knockout defeat he generally didn't last long after the first knockdown. The fight was just pure epic. Was a contender for fight of the year, probably should of won too.

Was there with the girlfriend. Best memory of the night was the end of Round 5. Dunne was dropped twice, bell rings and he goes back to the corner. I said to the woman "Dunne is fúcked!". The bell rings for Round 6 and Dunne punches the air and the O2 erupts. The woman roared after Dunne punched the air "He ain't fúcked!"
    What a night!!!

was Ringside. Cost a lot of money for those tickets but was the best money I ever spent. My Mrs is a complete boxing fanatic now too and she was there that night.
I agree about round 5 when the crowd urged him up. Round 3 was epic with the 1st knock down because Dunne landed an incredible left hook on Cordoba that sent him literally accross the ring. Every round was action packed. The crowd were genuinely concerned about Cordoba and I remember feeling worried. Fair play to Dunne because after 5 seconds he stopped celebrating and was worried too about Cordoba.

Remember Paul Mc Grath was there and the crowd singing that ooh aah paul mcGrath song in the toilets too. In fact I think I was the 1 that started it lol. Paul is a great man and a great supporter of boxing.

I wasn't at the fight but I watched it in Sinnotts that night after the rugby. Town was electric that night. Just a great day for sport.

I was at the Poonsawat fight. Seriously damp squib. :-(

When people talk abuut McGuigan fights and being electric ect...

I dont think i ever fully understood it until that night

the place was on fire I remember the hair on the back of my neck standing up

Best atmosphere for boxing I've ever experianced

I've been to the MEN for a Khan fight, The Garden for Cotto, Cowboy Stadium for Pacquia, Veltins Arena for Klitschko, O2 world in Berlin for Abraham,Kings Hall and Oddessy for a few of the irish lads but nothing came close to recreating that atmosphere it was a special night where anything seemed possible

Best event, sporting or otherwise, that I've ever been at.

Nothing has topped it and may never do so again. Magical night when the stars aligned.

was there too (with healy..another poster on here) and can only repeat what the others said.

it was an unusual card of mixed pro and amatuer boxing and katie taylor fought as well (atmosphere was something else for her fight too).....but the. amatuer fights were top class, and in the end it amounted to the best boxing event i was ever at
