Kinda hard to train if you got paid up front
Duran shouldnt have quit.if he wasent in shape he had no business being in the ring that night.

Agree with you. I've already stated that so many times and some posters do not want to acknowledge that or think it was an issue ..fair enough, everyone entitled to their opinion... but if I get 10 mil up front .. I'm back to the bar .. same as Duran

I think what surprised Duran as much as anything was the was under the illusion that after beating SRL he thought he actual had more control on determing when the fight would take place. He obviously partied way too much after beating SRL but thought that he could get the fight date extended if he needed to. Turns out he was wrong. That said his loss is still on him, but one thing that does irk me about SRL who l think is a great great fighter is his ability to have almost every fight on his terms. The Lalonde fight especially was a fiasco, forcing a LHW champ to fight at 168. Simply because he had the economic clout to do this doesn't make it right. But in terms of this fight l think an undertrained Duran was embarassed by SRL's antics and quite out of frustration. Probably never would have if he new the repercussions before hand.

I totally agree. And it is different, but look at Mayweather with that economic clout x 10 that he had. I strongly believe that Floyds ATG status goes up huge if he takes a lot more risk fighting the better guys and retiring at 66-2, instead of 49-0..

I'm a big Duran fan, but there is no excuse for his quitting. None. Pretty disgraceful and indefensible.

Quite right. I'm a fan of both guys but it was a disgrace Roberto quitting like that.

He paid the price for it. He was disgraced even in his home country of Panama. It sent his career skidding after he was literally on top of the boxing world. After he started losing his manager and ofcourse Don King left him. No Mas is part of Duran`s story and it could've ended there. The beautiful part of it is that he cameback and won two more world titles.

Duran quit because he was too gangster badass to continue. (okay... Maybe I'm disgustingly biased...oh... Yep... I am)

I met Duran at the Playboy club in Macafee NJ around six months before he fought Hagler. He was at one of the clubs in the hotel. He was certainly drinking alcohol. If I remember..... rum and coke.

Well,,I don't know how many rounds it would take but, yeah he would hammer them out. Pacquiao is an aggressive fighter so is Chavez, Chavez goes in 5 or 6 . Manny will try to escape after exchanging with the Los Manos de Piedra and gets ko'ed inside 12.The only question in the Floyd fight is if he hears the last bell not if he wins.
