You have your history wrong, sir. Duran was knocked down, not out by dejesus. Granted He did lose the first fight but he won the following 2 fights.
Durans greater all-around ability and defense makes the difference in this one. Duran by late round tko.
This would be a tough fight. Duran was a monster at Lightweight, but so was Chavez. JCC was also just as fast as Duran at LW. People act like Duran was a speed demon, and he wasn't. He just threw a lot of punches. JCC was very similar in that he threw loads of punches and threw them where he could hurt you. Neither of these guys were one punch knockout artists. This bout could truly go either way, but I would give it to Duran because of his superior defense.
if you know anything about boxing you should know that NOBODY KO Prime JC ... 135 was the peak of JCC .... and nobody in earth would KO him, not even Duran ....
I thought Chavez was a better combination puncher, and I think they are pretty much even in the punch resistance area. The better body puncher, that could have also gone to Chavez, conceivably. Duran would win because his hands would reach the target first, and he can go toe to toe with anyone at Lightweight for 15 rounds just fine. It would be an immense war, and Chavez ain't getting knocked out. Throw Alexis Arguello in the ring as well, and Chavez would still see the distance.
I can't see this fight being easy like some. Many would disagree but IMO Chavez would be the best 135 Duran ever faced.
The macho would come out in both fighters and it would be a classic war. I just feel Duran does everything Chavez does but better. He also has better foot movement and can box better on the outside if he needs to. I would see Chavez being stopped on cuts or on his feet around the 9th round.
