One of the very best match ups I think could be made. Two badass old school masters of boxing. Toney with his great defense and counter punching against Qawi's relentless yet skillful and strategic attack. Both guys had a tone of tricks up there sleeves and were true fighters. How do you see this one playing out had they met in there primes at light heavyweight or cruiserweight?

my instinct is that qawi outworks him for the ud, but i'm given pause for thought by the fact toney's chin takes away one of qawi's main strengths.

    Great fight.

They are different but remind each other in some areas. Great skills, iron chin and good punch, both are short even for LHW, both are true warriors.

I think this is the 50/50 fight if both are at their best.

Great matchup. Kinda depends on what version of Toney shows up. At his best, he was too much brain. He would find his distance and his gaps. Bill Miller didn't raise no fool.

With a lot of things being fairly equal here. i think Pace is the Ace... And the ability to maintain it... and for me that's Qawi, Plus no matter how good...or hard to find Toney's Chin is... Qwai was an expert at Filletting an opponet to the body... So i feel Qwai's Constant Quantity will ultimately exceed Toney's Sporadic Quality on the scorecards..

At Lightheavy Qwai was a dynamo... Toney already a Gorilla raid Specialist.. At Crusier the Teeth of the Buzzsaw may be a little Blunted.. But they still kept Whirring.. Toney just became more of a pace Rationer... I'll Take Qawi on Points...

Assuming the absolutely best Toney and I still pick Qwai at 175 .. Qwai was a monster .. on his all time best night Spinks fought a safety first brilliant fight to be him .. Qwai had a short run but man was he nasty .. one guy that would take Toney's tough guy act and crack him in half ..

Qawi's overhand rh was one of the best punches to throw against the shoulder roll if you throw it enough times it will land.

Probably most will disagree here...but Qawi at his best, at light heavyweight was a great fighter H2H. Qawi beats Toney with pressure on points.

Love Toney but i think Qawi would outwork him and win a close decision.

I can't see how this is as close as people are saying.

Qawi would have beaten Toney handily.
