He could not run fast enough to get through twelve rounds with Usyk. Be a one sided beat down that would not go distance.
Alvarez has become delusional after his 4 fight win streak over B & C grade opponents. He has been buoyed up by the fawning reporters and Ed Hearn. Alvarez is no Sam Langford or Harry Greb, so stay away from the likes of Usyk, even with his posse of corrupt officials and Reynoso’s special “diet!”
I don't think Usyk will knock Canelo out, he is will known for sparring bigger guys but equally I do not see Canelo outpointing him. As long as he puts in a decent effort he will get the respect given the weight/size disparity. Either way I'm sure Eddie has only mentioned it to publicise the Bivol fight which has had virtually no coverage over here.
I thought Canelo's intention is to at least attempt to unify at LHW, hence him taking the Bivol fight and moving up to that weight class. Assuming he wins, that would mean facing Beterbiev either late this year or certainly at some point in 2023 depending on if/when he fights Golovkin. So he's potentially going to fight Bivol-Golovkin-Beterbiev-Usyk??!! If that is a 4 fight run he's even willing to entertain it's absolutely staggering... I'm far from being a Canelo fan, I think there are a lot of people out there, including some very knowledgeable people who are reading too much into his run of wins against BJS, Smith and Plant which is impressive on paper for sure but some context is required. Once you dig a bit deeper it's clear he was fortunate timing wise and opponent wise. BJS has been a total mess the last few years and was there for the taking due to his lifestyle choices and being at the wrong weight. Callum Smith was weighed drained to within an inch of his life and took the fight on short notice for the payday. He's a very good but not great fighter who has a history of inactivity as well as being at the wrong weight for a while. Plant was neither of those two things, but to put it simply was just never that good. I think the names being mentioned at LHW and Usyk are clearly levels above and as good as Canelo is you can only roll the dice so many times he is only human after all.
The fact that he's even mentioned in a Heavyweight fight tells you everything you need to know about whether he's still on the gear or not, he's 5ft 8 for crying out loud.
I do like a good laugh No really. The more it's dismissive the funnier it gets. There's having a laugh and there's taking the pi££. I'm up for both.
