Of course it’s going to be more. Wilder - Ortiz was only 2.6 million between them. As long as the fighters are willing there could be some massive cards coming.

Agree m8 plus in America top fighters don't get enough regular bills, too many only fighting once a year. This gives them a platform to fight a few times a year. Hearn definetly number 1 promoter in the world, cant wait to see it all on Sky. Another death nail for box nation.

The deal sounds tasty on paper especially with the figures involved, but I would personally suggest you hold fire on proclaiming Eddie as the king of boxing.

We need to see what fighters he is going to sign - any news?

This DAZN service is starting from absolute scratch - they have zero boxing subscribers in the US. In fact ironically the whole thing sounds very similar to boxnation (which Eddie used to pan as a non viable, niche channel) when that first launched only minus the big figures and an actual TV platform.

No doubt streaming is the future, but this platform is not Netflix or Amazon as I was starting to think might be the announcement the way Eddie was hyping it up.

Also, if people think US monster networks like Showtime, HBO and ESPN and their preferred promoters are going to just sit back and let Eddie hoover up all the big stars you need a dose of reality.

How are they not committed to boxing?
Top Rank have a deal with ESPN and are also streaming cards, Golden boy/Canelo is traditionally HBO and Showtime carries the Haymon stuff.

Let's see what purses Hearn is going to be paying if that's what you mean by investing?

    Let's see.

I mean, it sounds great on paper but I'm just too sceptical of Hearn and Matchroom. Hoping my pessimism is misplaced.

Agreed. It’s just an American Boxnation.

It really isn’t anything like Boxnation, it will carry loads of live sports , Eddie is just being paid $1b to provide the boxing content.

I’d imagine they’ll go after streaming rights for the EPL and all manner of US Sports and if the customers don’t like it they can cancel and re subscribe when they do, no silly registration fee either !

I think it’ll have very little impact on the UK fans though apart from getting 16 shows on at silly o clock on sky sports, of course sky may well see this as an opportunity to up their subscription charges with the added content they’ll be paying for.

HBO do show boxing but they are paying less for the rights fees. In previous years kovolov v ward for example would of been on hbo.

Crawford fought pistol for example on ppv instead of hbo. The budget in 2015 was $30 mil In 2017 it was $25 mil.

Bob arum ditched HBO because they couldn't guarantee him the dates.

He is arguably the biggest before the new deal. No other promoter puts bums on seats like he does. He was 1st really embrace social media, YouTube interviwers etc. Like him or Hate him he's excellent at his job.

I don't dislike Eddie at all and he is an excellent promoter. If Goldenboy held Canelo fights in Mexico it would no doubt sell out 100k + everytime, so I'm sorry AJ selling out stadiums twice a year and doing 1hr interviews driving down the motorway with IFL is not the only criteria.
