I'd hate to see him sell himself short just to try and breathe some hope into the hopeless erstwhile glamour division. What's the future have in store for him at heavyweight? Being just another footnote on the resume of a Ukrainian for getting brutally KTFO? Honestly, in every way except financially (and even that I would argue, as a superfight with a budding star down the line could be more lucrative than, say, a mismatch with Arreola which would only fool casuals), I see moving down as patently and indisputably beneficial to his career.
Even though Adamek could beat a lot of guys at heavyweight, Chambers isn't one of them. Adamek needs to stay at crusier where he could be champ for a long time.
You've got to be joking. Who has Chambers beat to tell you that? Furthermore, Chambers fights at an inconsistent level and has already proven to be undisciplined in his weight managment. Adamek's resume is also heads and tails above Chambers'. The HW div. is being regarded as one of the worst ever and all of a sudden a two division champ, Ring champ, and a guy with a proven granite chin and heart, capable of going to wars with anyone, is not good enough to compete in it? :nono Anyone who is concerned about the state of the heavyweight division, should welcome someone like Adamek with open arms.
To be honest with you, Chambers probably does not belong in the heavyweight division either. I can't imagine him beating the very biggest of skilled big men like the Klitschkos or even Valuev just because of the size differential. However, Chambers does appear to be a little bit naturally bigger than Adamek and he is accustomed to fighting at the heavyweight division. And thats why I think he would beat Adamek at heavyweight (but probably not at crusier!). I have great respect for Adamek. I met him briefly at the weigh in for the Chad Dawson fight. However, I think he is better served staying at crusier and dominating there. This reminds me of the mistake that Jirov made in moving up to heavyweight. It ruined his career.
