    They should make Edgar/Mendes.

Also Lamas/KZ for #1 contender for a shot in December-ish.

Some good points in the thread.

The way Aldo outclassed Edgar in the first two rounds was a thing of beauty. Honestly, I've never seen anyone outclass and outspeed Frankie like that before (I don't think anyone has ever looked faster than Frankie period). So rounds 1 and 2 clearly to Aldo.

As the third round progressed you could see the momentum shifting, which was due to Edgar's unbelievable heart and 'no quitting' mentality, as well as due to Aldo's cardio issues. As long as Aldo was fresh, he was having a field day in there. So I can see how some people scored that round for Frankie, but still, just doing better than the two previous rounds (where he was getting beat up) isn't enough for me to give him the round. Aldo was still the one inflicting the most damage in the round.

Round 4 was easily Edgar's best, with Aldo being visibly gassed and slower.

People scream 'robbery' way too easily. You can't give someone the belt based on that performance. Aldo won 3-2.

PS: And yes, thank god there are at least SOME judges who don't score fights based on takedowns (especially ones that last for 5 seconds).

PS2: For the record, Edgar won the rematch with Benson imo.

I just rewatched round 3. Here is my opinion on that round.

Aldo lands a heavy leg kick, Frankie reacts by taking him down, Aldo back up after a split second.

Edgar begins hitting Aldo with leg kicks, not punishing, but definitely Aldo has to be feeling them, as we see him begin to lift his leg to check mid round.

There are multiple quick boxing exchanges, both are landing jabs, Aldo is landing a counter left hook at times, and at one point leads with the left hook and lands.

Edgar lands a few good right hands on Aldo.

Aldo threw a counter knee to the face at one point, and I'm not sure if it landed or not.

Edgar goes for another takedown and Aldo throws him on his face, I score that as a point for Aldo, he threw him right on his face.

To be honest, the end of the round Rogan begins to cheerlead for Edgar, and this is proven by the very finish to the round "OH BIG KICK BY FRANKIE!!"....The kick landed on Aldo's ass, literally, on the ass....it wasn't a scoring kick and it was coupled with a spin kick to Frankie's body by Aldo.

The one huge thing that happened in this round was Aldo's front kick to Frankie's face. It landed clean, and did damage, alot of damage.

This round was very close, but I find it a clear round for Aldo. If this was a 1 round fight, and that was the round....who would honestly leave that thinking Frankie should be champion? It think it's madness to feel that way.

    Aldo won rounds 1-3 IMHO.

So Edgar literally kicks his ass in round three, yet you score it for Aldo :-(

No disrespect to Edgar, but Aldo came in with a two round gas tank. He gassed the same way against Hominick, and I saw a little of it against Florian as well. It is either the weight cut, or he just doesn't train hard.

every man has his kryptonite Akbar.

men arent made unbeatable. we all have strengths and weaknesses. Obviously Aldos stamina isnt as good as Edgars.

Id actually guess that Edgar has the stamina levels of an elite level endurance athlete. Its a god given gift. Much like Aldo has the stand up skills.

Why is everyone talking like this was Coleman v Williams v2?

Hominick and Frankie have exceptional stamina and Jose still beat both

    I love this place

Yeah Aldo's stamina was good enough that some people gave him round 5 against a fighter who is known for having one of the best gastanks in the game. :conf

    :hat

Funny thing is Aldo fighting the p4p greatest stamina fighter in the world and argubly won round 5. Had the first 2 rounds been close his stamina wouldn't even be mentioned.

Yeah, his "poor stamina" is being very overstated around here. The only time that his stamina has really affected him was against Hominick, and he probably relented a bit in that one knowing he was way up on the scorecards anyways.

**** that, bouncing around trying to score points shouldn't get u a win. Look at the match as a whole. Aldo was fighting to win. To finish the fight. Not one round can you say edgar was fighting to finish. Lesson should be learn from his last few decision. Never leave the fight to the judges. Why? thats obvious.
