At least with MAB's you can argue it might have been a heat-of-the-moment temporary-abandonment-of-the-senses type of thing (though I still think it was probably malicious :yep); here it was just freaking blatant and vicious. You see him pause for a second, think it through, and wait for a spot.

In other news, Shimada's a plucky little *******. For a regional C fighter.

The ref didn't appear to stop the action properly though. I genuinely think that Valero stopped because he wasn't sure, and then hit because the ref hand't started a count of any sort. Just from what i remember anyway, I will have to look again when i get home.

Yeah, that ref needs to not be allowed in a ring again. Should've already started the count before the punch, then should've DQ'ed Valero immediately after the punch. Horrible all around.

Elite? Would an elite have trouble putting Shimada away? Which Valero didn't even legitimately do...

I should be "done" with regards to even explaining something that should be SOOOOO elementry to boxing fans. Valero is a top fighter whether you want to believe it or not. They had the same problems agreeing that PAC was a ELITE and befor that an "A" class fighter.

Ed is raw but he is a instinctual fighter. He's very aggressive and powerful. He has the tools to not only be champion but be a dominant one. he's still young and has some more growing to do in terms of his overall progression as a Pro, but he can compete with the best!

Maybe not beat but definitly can give anyone a run for their money at 135 or 130. His power is so dangerous what he lacks in skill and experience are overshawdowed by the apprehensivness most opponents experience going up against him. Ed may not be Elite yet but he is definitley close to stepping up to the levels of JMM and PAC.

I consider ELITE different from A class fighters. B class fighters are guys like Gamboa and Jiminez....C class fighters are step up fighters, or club fighters. ELITEs are guys like Floyd, PAC, Joe, Bhop ect.

Valero has a lot to prove and he's progression and exposure has been limited given his surrounding circumstances. His preformances should speak volumes for what he has lacked in actual high level experience. He dominates against B and C level guys as he should....Gamboa stepping up with Darling who is B level did decent...Gam is also young in terms of his pro career so he still has some more grooming that needs to take place before he is considered "A" level.

To give Valero a "C" rating in terms of your matrix is hysterical, but you are entitled to your opinion.

 Mosquera is A level but Gamboa is B level. I find that a bit more hysterical.

Thanks for the link. Clearly a foul but I'm not sure if it calls for a DQ.

Valero may get by Barrios, but I see Soto getting a UD or a KO against Valero.

That being said, Valero deserved to be DQ'd after that late hit. It's one thing to be an aggressive fighter; It's another to be a low-class cheap shot artist. He'll get what is coming to him when he fights better comp, just like Hamed did when Barrera slammed his face against the turnbuckle.

On another note, I love the way Valero leaves his chin hanging in the air when he throws his punches. That would be something a JMM would capitalize on. Valero isn't as fast as PacMan nor does he have the same power. PacMan demolishes Valero inside of 6.
