Shouldn't he lose some stature though after taking the break? Should he still be seen as the WW champ?

There's 25 million or so reasons to fight Hoya now instead of Cotto.

Of course you taking the ****ing money. Every single one of you hater ****s would take the money.

    Cotto will still be there.

Cotto needs Floyd, Floyd doesn't need Cotto.

In reality the majority of people don't like to know that someone makes a lot of money and for obvious reasons. The man is in a position where he CAN do that, if Margarito or even Cotto was in that position you bet they would do the same, who wouldn't?

As I said Floyd already did enough in his career as he said it and only wants major/big-money fights as his last few and Cotto/Margarito winner WILL be one of them simply because it'll make great money. I'm thinking those 2 fights will most likely be the last if Floyd comes out victorious, if not then the option of a rematch will also be there. That's a major reason why fighters fight and train hard, for recognition/glory AND money, they have families to support, bills to pay and lives.

Of course take the money, but if Cotto is an easy oppenent take that fight also to make more money. But I think Floyd can beat Cotto, but Margo I don't know about that one. I would fight 3x a year if I was Floyd just to make easy money and still do what I do

Floyd, no matter how gifted he is, he's a selfish individual. He has got all the money in the world and would still take a fight for the money than give the boxing fans a great fight.

That's the point, we all know that any fight can guarantee a great amount of money but Floyd has already done enough to find the motivation to train for any fight and Floyd isn't the only one that was in such position. Floyd just wants the big fights that guarantee the most amount of money and such fights come through DLH/Mosley/Cotto, Mosley lost so he's out of the discussion but both DLH and Cotto are still available so those fights will happen. If Margarito defeats Cotto then that fight will also guarantee a great amount of money and the years of trash talking from fans/journalists and Margarito his self about a Floyd fight is enough motivation/hype to make it happen, which is why it will. If Mayweather doesn't fight a victorious Cotto after DLH for the same reason he's using now then I'll be criticising his thoughts like the rest but I doubt that'll happen. Don't forget that when Floyd called out Hatton at 140 he also called out Cotto and what happened years later?, Floyd DID fight Hatton(who showed a lot of interest in the fight and worked to make it happen) so why would a Cotto fight be impossible?, it's still a fighter Floyd considered. Let's see if Cotto's team will call for this fight is both come out victorious in their next fights, if they do and Floyd refuses then I'm not backing that up.

What other great fights is he missing?, he's going for a rematch with DLH next and will most definitely fight Cotto/Margarito winner after it. Any other option you have in mind apart from DLH rematch now that Cotto/Marg are set?

I hear u Scar, but at the same time Cotto isn't saying **** also. I do think the fight will happen in 09, but I just feel like Floyd isn't really giving a straight ANSWER. Cotto has more fans than Floyd that for sure. wITH 24/7 cOTTO CAN GET THE HIS NAME OUT THERE.

That shows a narrow mind. It would be like saying to the soccer players: "you're a soccer player, so you can just play soccer". That's not the way that world works.

Well, the Lineal Title can't be stripped.

Many champs have taken breaks and were not stripped (for example, Tszyu at 140).

You can make an argument that he could lose his P4P status. Just an argument, because officially he won't lose it.

I'm pretty sure a 24/7 will be done for this fight, too big a fight to ignore that especially if both come out victorious fair and square in their next fights. Floyd doesn't give straight answers, that's normal, did he give any straight answer regarding Hatton?, it was Floyd being retired at the time but Hatton's interest to negotiate a fight changed everything. Will Arum show any interest?, that's the real question.

why is every floyd hater overlooking this important fact. floyd has a lawsuit against arum for money not received for the gatti and judah ppvs.:rofl there is no way floyd is going to walk into a ring and fight miguel cotto a bob arum fighter when floyd and arum are in litigation for money owed from 2005.

the only way floyd vs cotto happens is if bob pays up and fat chance of that happening.

so in all likelihood there will be no floyd vs cotto fight.

To the fans, it makes no sense. We have already seen this fight and there are more deserving fighters out there than Oscar.
