Emanuel Steward has passed. R.I.P Legend

If you read page 1 and page 4 of the thread, you will see what I really think.

It was a f*cking joke to lighten the mood, why should everyone be doom and gloom surrounding death? Shouldn't it be a celebration of that persons life? Shouldn't we all be happy, isn't that what a dieing person would ask for?

 

By all means celebrate the mans life, and I agree we must assume that is what he would want.

But using abusive and insulting language about him is disrepectful, and that is not the way to "lighten the mood" in my opinion.

 

Say what you want mate, I know you moral high grounders had a right laugh at it.

It was a joke, none of it was intended and it really wasn't that offensive.

I've done all the nicely nicely compulsory stuff in page 1. Nothing wrong with having a bit of fun, thats why I stuck (cue the abuse) at the end, because I knew within seconds some kneejerk premature ejaculator would be in here "YOU CANT SAY THAT YOU SHOULD BE ASHAMED." without looking at the bigger picture, it was a test. We all die eventually, why should we always be down about it?

Your work will never be forgotten, your wisdom neither. You've made your mark on the sport and will be truly missed.

I remember reading a poster on here said he met him over here for a event and he bought them all lunch and spoke candidly about the sport with such enthusiasm.

Legend is a word use far to often, but in Manny's case he's every ounce of the word.

 

I can remember that, too. I think it was before one of his London boxing clinics.

DETROIT (WXYZ) - Legendary boxing trainer Emanuel Steward remains in the care of doctors and is still alive, despite numerous reports of his passing.
I have been in contact with his sister, Diane Steward-Jones, who issued the following statement via text to me at 11:25am Thursday morning:

"You can tell folks that he is alive and being treated by some of the best experts in the world. The Steward family is dismayed and greatly disheartened and disappointed that during this personally challenging time, people would callously and thoughtlessly run wild with untrue statements in order to garner their '15 minutes of fame.'
"Where is the moral compass of those seeking to capitalize on this situation? Does anybody take the time to check out the facts anymore?
"Many of those issuing reckless statements have our phone numbers as well as Emanuel's office number and yet, they haven't called, just issued statements that are terrorizing Emanuel's children, siblings and relatives that aren't able to be here at the hospital.
"SHAME ON THEM! He has feelings and we, his family, have feelings. Consider that and give us our privacy to help our loved ones."
The 68 year-old Steward has been battling an unspecified illness over the past few months and the family has asked for prayers for his recovery.
It was reported late Wednesday on the website of the Detroit Free Press that Steward recently underwent surgery for diverticulosis.
Steward began training boxers in 1971 and is most famous for his work with world champions Thomas Hearns, Hilmer Kenty, Wladimir Klitschko, Miguel Cotto, Oscar de la Hoya and Cornelius "K9" Bundrage.
He fortified the Kronk Gym and transformed it into a boxing haven, respected around the world as one of the best training centers in the world.
Steward was inducted into the International Boxing Hall of Fame in 1997 and is also a member of the World Boxing Hall of Fame. He has served as a ringside analyst for HBO's coverage of boxing for many years.

his sister and andy lee saying he's alive, wlad and towers saying he's dead, now wlad has withdrawn his statement saying steward had passed away, im really really hoping this was a misunderstanding
