Maz was an exciting slugger I believe and the super welterweight world and European champion at one point. He was defeated by his countryman Nino Benvenuti Twice but beat Ninos conquer Ki Su Kim. Nino of course came to America and won 2 of 3 from Griffith for the middleweight championship. He made a big splash in the US with being Italian and good looking became a hugely popular champion. Sandro on the other hand was stopped by American Fred Little as a super Welterweight. It was ruled a NC but Little had beaten him very badly. Griffith was at least as good as Little.
Hi Mandela2039. To follow on from Steve,s very informative post, he was a very aggressive and exciting fighter, who posted wins over : Willie Warren Art Hernandez Wally Swift Gomeo Brennan Gaspar Ortega Ralph Duphas Don fullmer he stopped or KO,d 42 out of 64 opponents, so a hard puncher on some levels, also he suffered a near fatal car crash, but came back to have a stellar career, Benvenuti had his number, and they were the complete anthisesse of each other, the tall handsome Nino with his film star looks, and charm, and the rugged, balding, hairy chested, Mazzinghi, suffice to say the fans rooted for Nino. stay safe buddy. Mike.
