i beleive mayweather will win but i will play devil`s advocate hatton is also a stylistic nightmare for floyd. a pressure fighter with fast hands and feet who will not try to mix skills but try to stick to mayweathers chest and punch/grapple /tire the slicker boxer out and not give him room to breathe for 12 rounds nullifying the boxing skills. hatton is used at 5.6 to boxing taller fighters with much longer reach, in fact he has most probably only ever faced a handfull of fighters the same size as himself. it stands to reason that if you are going against the best pure boxer in the world then matching him stylewise v boxers are not going to win so there is a chance that a fighter like hatton going into the fight knowing he is going to have to fight 3 mins of every round for 12 rounds at high internsity and workrate might mean that the intangibles come into play. will mayweather want it as much as hatton if he is forced into a dogfight and cannot implement his boxing game. will mayweather change to a plan b if his boxing is not working. will mayweather plant his feet and let rip full body torque to make hatton honest. i have said it many times , sometimes it is not about who is the best boxer/more talent /better skills it can come down to who wants it more and who is prepared to give absolutly everything of himself in his will to win a fight. many many times superior skilled fighters even elite fighters have lost in similar scenarios.
I do not think that Mayweather is a stylistic mismatch. If Hatton was a real welter weight, I would call it even. At 140, I would call it even. But at 147 there is just no way that Mayweather gets beaten by the likes of Hatton.
Would not bother mate, pimp C and the other all knowing guys on here know better then any one of us,may not bother watching it now,its bound to end early then:-(
Pimp.....? I was worried you got rubbed out the other day. Turns out you don't roll with UGK....lucky for you.
What you described isn't boxing but sounds like some sort of MMA UFC ****. :good I would give Hatton a much better chance if he had a tight guard and good jab to work his way inside with but he doesn't. If he isn't allowed to maul, hold and hit you which IMO isn't boxing he's really out of luck against a much superior boxer.
Ok lets please stop acting like hatton will be any different than any other pressure fighter that floyd has faced(although i think that ricky has great skill). The only time pressure fighters affect and damage other fighters(majority of the time) is when you have a matchup like eg. mayorga/forest. A fighter that is flat footed and generates his power from his feet being planted. Most of the time a planted/ fighter is the only fighter that is affected tremendously by a pressure fighter. Floyd first of all does not need to rely on being planted to gain rythm when he fights. He can strike you moving to the side, backing up, or in any motion moving. That is why you see Trinidad get in trouble when he fights a fighter that is speedy and can move. Its simple. Because that type of fighter(standstill fighter) cannot attack affectivly on the move. But i will give hatton the benifit of the doubt, i think he is a very skillful fighter that could be dangerous. I think he could MAYBE...just MAYBE catch floyd like maybe how frazier caught ali, or how kelly caught naseem.....dodging backwards with his hands down.
:good This Puerto Rican has lost enough homies over the years I don't need to add another one. Go Pretty Boy (Cotto vs Pretty Boy September 08 ) :yep
There is a possibility, seeing how we LOST to standford and you guys beat a Ohio state. Could happen.
Exactly. Although, there is one slight correction to make: You can't analyse something that hasn't happened yet. It's like trying to review an album before it's released, or test drive a car while it's still in concept stages. Basically though, I don't see the point in a thread like this at all. Apologies to the original poster, no offence intended. We are literally 2 days away from the fight, so why don't we just let it pan out and see what happens? I always said that making predictions on this fight is a total waste of energy. Too many people have the attitude that whet they say is correct. It's all BS! No one knows what the outcome will be, so chill the f out and stop getting over-excited like a bunch of 5-year old kids. It's only a boxing match, at the end of the day.
henry armstrong in everybodys top 10 p4p all time usually fought exactly this way for fight after fight , year after year. not pretty but very effective .
So I guess that Floyd handpicked Ricky after all. Chose the guy who could make him earn more money and present less risk - I would personally feel embarassed to admit that and even more so, if Floyd stylistically outworks Hatton the way he did against Hoya and Baldomir. I don't think that is all over and settled. In case Ricky pulls it off and I know you're all anxious, Floyd Mayweather's rep is not getting any better... Think it over for less than 48 hours. Tic Tac Tic Tac, I hope the time runs down so slow, so Godamn slow.
What is hilarious is the fact that all PBF lovers say he doesn't Cherry Pick his fights but everytime we get on this forum, they are the first to say so-n-so's style falls right into Floyd's hands, yadda yadda yadda. Insert foot into mouth? I think so.
